Austin 1100 in white loved that car , sold it to a guy at work who wrote it off hitting a tree in the great storm of 1987

I had to share with my mum when I first started driving, I was an apprentice and pretty much couldn’t afford anything.

Switched jobs earning considerably more and then when I’d saved a few thousand quid skipped back home to buy the car off her....it was only a pug 107 with a Ferrari killing 67bhp but the freedom that came with it was so much fun!

Dirt cheap to run but things started to break.....like I said it was a pug

My first car is my current car. A 2002 Citroen C3 1.4. Which actually started to brake down as I was driving to asda today! .

I managed with some difficulty, to drive it into the car park and park up. Yes parked up correctly and within the bay lines! Lol.

I was so afraid the car would die in the middle of the road, infront of traffic lights! . Thank goodness it didn't.

If anyone is interested to know, I now need a new car battery!

Hubby and I are both still driving our first cars.

He always drove company vehicles and never needed his own car until recent years. He’s got a 2002 Skoda Octavia which he’s had for about 4 years.

I’ve got a 2002 Mazda mx5 which we bought about 18months ago. I’d only been learning to drive for 2 months when we bought her but it was the car we wanted at the right price.

I occasionally allow hubby to drive her at weekends, if I’m feeling generous

A ex police Rover SD1, a barn find at a girlfriends parents farm. Got it going, tuned it up (all those tappet clearances to be set! ) , bit of TLC and took it in payment for digging them a goose pond.

There and to the left a bit

White Austin 1300 Traveller (estate version of the Austin 1100) - back seats would fall into the boot if you broke too hard, and had an electronic ignition so you could start it without a key and risk the steering lock coming on when you went round corners (which I only did once and never again!!) - Mum sold it for a tenner when I was away

A 1973 BE beetle, powder blue.

She started first time everytime, much to the annoyance of the rest of the street in winter.

Ford Cortina Mk 3 2000E on an M.plate( about 74?).

It was an automatic but Inhad to have it converted to manual when my mate in the passenger seat wondered what would happen if you put in park at 30nmph!

1992 Nissan Micra K10 (the old box not the shopping trolly), thing was a tank.

Remember taking my brother driving and him knocking several walls down without much more than a little paint damage. Only just got another since I scrapped it a few years back.

Is it just me that dislikes new cars. Euro ncap boxes with no character.

Give me the sounds and smells of an old morris minor with an engine full of castrol r, coming down thru the straight cut gears over any modern blue toothed up modern any day

I had a VW Polo Fox, 1.0 litre, 4 gears and a tape deck (which I soon swapped for a Kenwood CD player and thought I was ace). As I was 18 I used to drive it at full pelt everywhere and ended up blowing the head gasket and seizing the engine after about 2 years
