Dates in real life

I realised that since being single (5yrs since last serious relationship) all my dates and short term things have all come from dating apps, here or facebook contact.

Not once have I met a man in a real life that has then ended up in a date. Is that odd or do others find that real life doesnt generate many dates any more?

I think current generation is already too busy staring at their phone in public or listening to music.

It's just a way of life these days? Nearly everybody has a phone these days and it's a lot easier to use dating apps etc, just means that there's is a lot more time waster etc out there though

That’s really interesting, because I have always met my partners either in the Supermarket, asking for directions, in the que of my favourite cake shop, at work or through a sport/hobbie, etc.

I am more comfortable talking to strangers face to face. Whereas with dating apps, people tend to over-analyse, and overthink what to write. With dating apps and social media, I can’t ‘feel’ and connect as easily with what the other person is feeling.

I’ve rarely been successful with dating websites/apps etc.

I do better in real life than on here. Pulled last 3 times I’ve been out and not tried. It’s confidence I always say or perceived confidence

May be you all should stop using social networking site and fab for a year...you will know the answer for yourself...

I think if we focused more on the people around us maybe the outcome would be differant.

We are so busy with our heads stuck looking at the screens we miss whats there right in frout of us

I’m more likely to find a man more attractive in person than on a dating app. I could always pull when out clubbing.

The last time i was on POF i didn’t see one profile that piqued my interest.

But as a shy lass, online works better now my clubbing days are over.

I find it easier in real life as I seem to put my personality across better than onlin. But why not broaden your options and see what’s online as well

You may be right but in my work life personal life and social life I come into contact with very few men. Its about availability of single men

I think by the time you get to your mid thirties, you can safely assume that most women your age round and about are in a long term relationship, so at least online dating manages to throw those at you who are actually single.

Last time I had a date (and more) was ten years back from a meeting at a bar in Puerto Banus. Lots of flirting and chatting up goes on out there that just doesn’t seem to happen at home.

Written from my age perspective mind you. I’m simply too old to be hanging around bars

I often speak to strangers everywhere, no issue there. but when I go out with friends I want to enjoy their company and have a proper conversation with them so am very unlikely to get to know anyone else...

That's all well and good but....

No one goes to pubs etc looking to date with the intention of settling down into a real relationship. They go to pubs/clubs eye etc to pull for random encounters.

Least on here everyone (mostly everyone) is honest with their intentions and seek more or less the same thing.

I believe it's possible to meet someone from this site who you have a ton in common with. Why rule anything out with them? Just go with the flow and see what happens. Stranger things really have happened lol

I would say that most people go to a pub or club to have drinks/a laugh with their mates and not to "pull" at all...

Exactly what I used to think. Also exactly what myself and my female friends do. Exceot everytime we go out, someone always tries it on. The way the talk and the chat up lines used, would give huge clues what they're really after!

These are our experiences on every night out. Maybe you're an angel whilst out and about but most are not.

At least with online dating or on here, a person is aware what they've signed up for. As you just agreed, not all of us go out to pull.
