After years of racing and crashing motorbikes Nicky passed today after a cycling accident while training in Italy. So sad for the racing community

I loved watching him ride some of the most powerful racing motorcycles around like they were motocross dirt bikes. Sliding sideways through corners, speedway style. Always entertaining in the paddock when TV presenters spoke to him.

Absolutely gutted about this. I never really rated him as a racer but I really liked him. Seemed like a really nice bloke too. He's the only bloke that's won the title other than VR46 since I've been watching that I don't hate.

Desperately sad. I watched a documentary on him a while back. He came across as a lovely, genuine, unaffected young man.

We saw that one and thought the same even if he did stop the Dr making it six straight.

Sounds tragic.

So if I understand this right.

hes the only guy that's beaten VR46 to the championship that I don't dislike. Never liked Stoner, Lorenzo or Marquez.

Graham Hill (father of Damon), and both G.P. world champions, perished in a plane crash.

Have to admit that I'd never heard of him until the accident was being reported on cycling websites but it was obvious from the reports what a popular man he was. So sad. RIP

A really nice guy. A credit to the sport. With him and Marco gone it's a real shame. They'll be racing up there together I hope.

Absolutely gutted and saddened by this news. 35 years old is no age for a person to die, he had so much life ahead of him.

Absolutely gutted, i remember rooting for him the whole season he won the motoGP in 2006, first year i really watched it and got into it. Safe to say he alone got me interested in motorsport. Genuinely sad to hear of his passing. Wont be forgetting the kentucky kid anytime soon
