Ecclestone out,, brawn in!!

Now we are going to see f1 become great again!!!!

Looks like the liberty take over may be a positive thing for the sport

Can't wait for future seasons now!!

When we look at him nowadays it's easy to forget the good Bernie did for F1 in the past now but F1 needs to change and that was never going to happen while he was in control.

Fingers crossed for the future of the sport.

It needs to get away from this hybrid shit.

Bring back V8s, wider slick tyres, less aerodynamics and easier to pass.

Such a shame what's happened to the sport over the last 10 to 15 years.

..of what not to do? I tried watching it a few times and it was always shite. Tracks too tight and too square (and battersea unfilmable through the trees) - I just can't get into it.

So while I agree that F1 needs to improve, I don't see anything in F-e that is obviously transferable.

as well as saving F1, Bernie was pivotal in making the sport safer. Hopefully Brawn will re-vitalise the sport which has lost its direction over the last 10 years

Tighter track = closer racing.

Not the same predictable winner each time.

Fan boost.

More requirement for energy management. Driver skill plays more of a part.

Ironically most people seem to think that the driver skill requirement would be higher if they had to do less energy management (fuel/battery) in F1.

Closer racing is not better racing - without overtaking it's just a shorter procession.

The fan boost is an interesting idea, but it feels as artificial as any of the things f1 has tried eg double points.

Like I said, I'm all for improving f1, and I'd like F-e t succeed. I just think f-e needs to develop and refine itself into a parallel series.

Unfortunately, the technical changes for this year are not going to make it any more exciting, other than seeing who adapts better to the new way.

Faster cornering speeds will allow even less overtaking opportunities.

Limits of the number of mechanics able to work on the car during a pit stop

No way to fan boost - stupid idea.

More electrical energy as increased torque makes for cars that are harder to control and more opportunity for drivers to make choices about how to deploy the electrical power.

Get rid of the blue flag rule requiring backmarkers to jump out of the way.... racers should be able to overtake backmarkers, if they can't they'll get caught and that will make for more exciting races.

I think if there are 18 cars and 18 tracks then each driver drives a different car each track so end of season he has driven every car or team twice , then you will see which driver is best and which constructor is best

As a big fan of all forms of motorsport and Marshall I agree Bernie got very stuck in his ways, and obsessed by money..... tracks in countries based on the ability to pay rather than fan base or heritage.

With a change of regime, especially the input from Ross I can see a brighter future, but I'll think it will be a slow process....... and I guess Ferrari won't be very chuffed right now, shame that lol

I'd like a return to V8's and making the thing going as fast as they can, but in this world of political correctness the odds of that are remote! ....... so let's see where this new journey takes the sport..... fingers crossed and no ovals!

Hopefully... he has been good for the sport with the safety aspect... I just don't think he has grasped the online digital media world that we live in nowadays... possibly should have moved on 3 years ago...

im with you on the v8 but manufacturers want to use f1 to develop hybrid technology so I think you're correct quite remote..

Sure he did not get everything right, but who does?

Without Bernie i doubt F1 would a 1/10 of what it is today

Return to this... return to that... more downforce, less downforce, reintroduce fuelling... fan boost...

The fact is that with any rule or format change there is always one or two teams who get a better grip on the regs than the rest, they inevitably end up with a period of dominance, I think there really is only two solutions. 1. Let the designers and engineers go f*cking mental and do what they like. (Probably dangerous and expensive.. but wow) 2. Ensure there is stability of the rules and regs which allows time for others to catch up and be competitive (this naturally happens as teams develope and the ones who dominate plateau)

Any thoughts ?
