Fast cars you ever owned or wished you owned!

Having had a few reasonably fast cars over the years new cooper S's etc I have now gone a step further and acquired a Bmw 135! My god does it shift and sound good 326 bhp standard. 0-60 5.0 seconds but beyond that I love it every time I start it up. But I'm not sure it ticks all the boxes and already I'm wondering what I will replace it with. But for now I will enjoy the 3.0 litre straight 6 beast snarling at me

They are very special cars indeed and only a very few would feel more special in my opinion.

Porsche Cayman S is probably the best drivers car for sub 20k for a good example. Get a second car if you need more than 2 seats

Other than that, a decent 911 could be had for £25k.

All depends what you really want from a car. For me it's all about driver involvement.

Love the Cayman and older 911, truth be known if I had the money a 356 C would rock my world, not fast but those lines. The 135i gives the Cayman a good run for its money, put it in sport + and watch the back end slip and slide and make you smile.

In order of ownership.

Mk1 ford capri 3.0E.

Ford mexico escort.

ford ticford Bi turbo V6 3.0 capri.

Pontiac firebird 1972 model (smokie and the bandit).

Lotus cortina.

lotus super 7.

Caterham super 7.

MGF.

Current car is a sleeper, on the surface it's your every day Ford Focus 2.0 Ghia.under the skin is a Ford V6 with twin turbos, currently 2 wheel drive but 4 wheel drive is being worked on as we speak, power to the wheels is 480bhp 0-60 in under 4 sec through a sequential gearbox.

makes a few "boy racers" look twice when it beats them at the lights lol as it is driven by a 60 year old.

my obsession with power and speed has not only been 4 wheeled.

I've owned bikes too.

Gsxer 750/1100's

Honda fireblades.

Yamaha RD500Lc

Suzuki RG 250

and a pure sport GSXR RR 1380 turbo special.

But the best ride of all is that that mother nature offer's " a good woman" 0- heaven every time lol

Many years ago I built my dream Sierra Cosworth. I spared no expense and it was eventually putting out 575bhp at the wheels (tested on a dump). The only problem was that it was utter hell to drive in traffic because it had a stage 3 paddle clutch that was either in or out with virtually no biting point. I basically stalled it a lot or launched off the traffic lights at 3,000 miles an hour.

I eventually had to sell it to a guy who used it for track days.

The Focus RS is the only Ford I've been remotely interested in for over a decade.

I'm kinda disappointed in the new Alfa Giulia, which looks just as bland as most other saloons on the road at the moment. It's a real pity they've lost their design flair recently.

I have an Audi S4 as my daily drive which is a great fun car to drive nice and quick with a pretty epic ear box.

But for the weekends I've got an aston Martin vantage. Which was always a dream car and still feels that little bit special every time I take her out!

A proper original Audi quattro turbo has got to be one of the most exciting and useable cars out there. Would also like an early Mustang for the looks and the sounds, but I doubt it'd be all that great to drive.

Only 500 of them made, very very quick, blow most other cars away in a straight line as it weighs so little, comfy and sounds beautiful!

Had an Audi S2 Avant for 9 years. Fast and usable in all conditions but discreet. Surprised many drivers who thought they were driving a fast car. Bought a Jag XK8 to replace it but it was such an old man's car and nowhere near as fast. The S2 stayed and the XK8 didn't last long.

Didn't own the car but borrowed a good friends Bentley for a weekend. 6.0 Ltr twin turbo frightened the life out of myself joining the motorway when I hit over 100mph by the bottom of a short slip road. The car was a total beast but it drank petrol for fun

"Having had a few reasonably fast cars over the years new cooper S's etc I have now gone a step further and acquired a Bmw 135! My god does it shift and sound good 326 bhp standard. 0-60 5.0 seconds but beyond that I love it every time I start it up. But I'm not sure it ticks all the boxes and already I'm wondering what I will replace it with. But for now I will enjoy the 3.0 litre straight 6 beast snarling at me "

For me it's gotta be the Jaguar XKR, I've never owned one but I have driven one.... 3.30am, 165mph on the 483. I won't go into the nitty gritty but the crux of the story is, £12 taxi fare or a go in his car. Best £12 I never spent!

Still my personal land speed record.

My favourite car I've driven and not owned would be the Aston Vantage V12 - Aberdeenshire has perfect roads for putting it to it's full limits and I'm itching to return and try out the Cairngorms.

TVR S3c (dreadful, but looked and sounded nice)

Subaru Impreza mk1 WRX JP import (270bhp, 290 lb/ft, best car I owned, right up to the day it got stolen)

Audi S3 quattro (boring replacement for the WRX)

Renaultsport Megane dci 175 (economical but quick diesel)

Mazda 6 MPS (2.3 turbo, AWD, 260bhp - great sleeper car - but thirsty)

Currently... Saab 9-3 (twin turbo diesel saloon, de-cat, re-mapped, 225bhp, 360lb/ft - very nippy, huge torque and 600 mpg)

i was once taken out by the sales director of TVR, in their factory Cerbera demo. We were going down the road sidewards, towards an oncoming tipper truck, as he discussed the finer points of the variable lock rear diff or something....all i can remember is the of the truck driver and most probably myself too

Like my fords though, always have! Had 2 ST24 mondeos, now got a mk3 ST tdci. On a recent trip to Cornwall got an average of 60mpg out of it! Smile for miles!

a quandary, could you change my mind?

First car was a kit, Ford Mexico based rear wheel drive rocket from 0-75..

Others cars since XJR super charged, Mercedes 420, BMW 760.

The one that still is able to put a smile on my face is the BMW, visually just a standard car, no major clues of how good it was.

Three months later it was joined by a 67 Merc 280se 3.5 Coupe. Kept them both for a couple of years.
