Rum

So I'm just sat having a cheeky Rum & Coke. It's a dark spiced rum called Kraken. I must admit being a ex Royal Navy guy i do like a nice drop of rum, some of my favourites are Kraken a dark spiced rum, Captain Morgans a more golden spiced rum, Woods & Pussers rum both dark, but happy to drink the likes of Bacardi! I was just wondering how many people on here like a good rum, how and what do you drink it with.

not at all, I remember drinking Bacardi 151 in Barbados where the Coke was dearer the the Bacardi, they do more than just the plain old white white rum Bacardi.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I had some Kraken recently and it's jolly nice. I don't really do rum (against all the laws of my heritage, but there you go). When I do, I prefer it with coconut water.

I love Malibu ... and also know it's a white rum and a tarts drink ... not that I'm a tart of course.

I do love the artwork on the Kraken bottle though .....

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

I'm a big fan of dark rums, spiced rums, and not white rum at all.

I tried Bumbu the other day - really good.

Had it just with some ice as I was trying it, but usually and lime as well

NO! Not gloopy coconut cream but the more subtle, less coconutty water.

Frozen coconut jelly is also good instead of ice.

Splice the mainbrace shippers! Woods, pusser's, pusser's gunpowder proof, lambs, cockspur, Havana club 7, and my favourite Angostura 1919. All on the sideboard with the whiskey!

Of course only a sailor knows why lambs is 'that' shape.....

I found Woods 100 much smoother than either Lambs or Captain Morgans plus, of course, it was 100% whereas Lambs and Captain Morgan was "only" 70%! Think that`s why you can`t get it any more as I think anything over 70% is not allowed for sale in UK?

Ha! I had a glancing blow with the Senior Service too, but before your time. I expect you were still in school!

Funnily enough I drank rum before joining the Navy but not once I was in. It was all G&T, which I hate, so I took to brandy instead,..

Edinburgh

I love a good rum. I come from the French Caribbean, few choices over there.

I particularly like infusing my white rums with various fruits.

My raspberry or passion fruit infused rum have been appreciated a few times at socials in Scotland

It's cold up here

For those into spiced rum, try Ableforth's Rumbullion.

Available from the Amazon, often on a lightning or daily deal.
