The things which make you realise you are a grown-up

In my book it’s not a good thing to feel like you are a grown-up all the time… in fact I rarely feel like a grown-up.

I can perform most household chores without it making me feel like a grown-up. There are some tasks, just a few, which make me feel like I shouldn’t have to do that… it should be someone grown-up … and then I realise that would be me then.

For me, one of those tasks is……. clearing the outside drains!

I can’t really explain why it is, but it’s one of those jobs where all of a sudden I become very much aware that I am meant to be a responsible grown-up… and I don’t like that feeling.

When your arse is too big to wedge into the swings in the playground

When you wedge tight on the helter skelter

When the roundabout tilts and stops

Or does that just mean we're getting fatter?

Every now and again, i have to clear the one outside the kitchen but sometimes i just buy some stuff and pour it down the sink, smells lovely

It depends if you have a leaf problem or not.

Two weeks ago I crawled along my roof space up in the loft to put towels and buckets under a leak.

I hate the drains. Getting my hands down n lifting sludge.

Resetting the lecky when it blows.

Opening up the sewage pipes and sluicing.

Aranging funerals.

Paying every fuggin goddam bill AND subsidising 'adult' children.

Not responding to wanky messages on here.

Smiling through it all.

When the horny bitch at Chams dragged me into a room and said "I need a shag and I want a man to do it" so a quick look round, point my own finger in my own chest and say "Who? me?"

'kin 'ell I've pulled

When I was about 7 I put my hand down the one outside the kitchen to retrieve a superball. I cut my finger on something down there and now have a genuine phobia of drains. the thought of putting my hand in own makes me heave.

so i don't clean 'em

When you get your mortgage statement through each year and you realise how much there is left to pay.

When you get the letter from British Gas saying the prices are going up and you remember no one else is funding it.

When the taxman tells you your employer buggered up your tax 3 years ago so now you owe him lots of money.

(at this rate the Hound will have to start earning her keep)

I now feel like a grown up because im a parent, she depends on me for everything, paying bills, council tax, and doing food shopping etc

Before my daughter came into my life i used to think you were an adult if you drank tea or coffee - something which i still dont do haha

Being a single parent most of the time makes me feel grown uo.

Having to sort out problems with emotional bits with the kids makes me feel adult.

When it all goes wrong and have nowhere to turn to.aside from advice from family makes.me feel very grown up.

Yes.when being.on a swing makes me feel sick or my botty doesnt fit

when it starts to get dark and i want to be home with the door locked in my pjs that makes me feel an adult lol

To have a mortgage, and bills such as utilities, phones, council tax etc. to pay each month! The salary stays in the bank account for minutes before bills are taken out of the account!

Ooo, and the first time I had to open up a shop as I was "officially" in change due to my profession. I was 23, and a number of my colleagues were twice my age and had been working for a lot longer than me!

lost in the city of Atlantis

When I am out with my single friends and they are talking shoes, holidays and constant nights out and I'm thinking about the pile of dishes, the ironing, the 100th cotume I have to buy for my daughters because thier school suddenly decided they are having a victorian day, and whether I paid the window cleaner and milkman this month.

.

I move a certain amount into a different account, so that I can get hold of the money towards the end of the month, even if the main account has zilch in it.

Playing with a water pistol to soak the pets is childlike!

Mine run away as soon as they see me with it nowadays! Smart pets I have!

When I have to take my teenage son to the GUM clinic.. it reminds me that a) I am old enough to have a teenage son and b) He could make me a Nanna...

Both make me feel grown up which is bad as I refuse normally to grow up.. even my kids say I am a big kid..
