The ceremony caused major hiccups to the traffic in London, as they closed the road outside the Royal Opera House in order to errect the canopy and extra lighting etc...

It will be worth in I am sure!

The road outside (Bow St) is virtually a side street. The traffics always bad there mainly due to too many cars and the fact that the lights are always phased wrongly.

Pedestrian path was partially blocked too, and the spectacle of the canopy going up attracted quite a crowd, and one could hardly move!

Mind you, they are digging up London left, right and centre for improvement purposes for 2012.

I shan't come back to London until the dust has settled!

Yeah ...I`ve fond memories of Pete Postlethwaite....be fitting to see his contribution to his craft reconised..always gave me a sense of being a lovely fella...not starry or conceited ...sad loss...

Pete has to get an award. I loved him in Brassed Off to name but one of his films, and the music 'orange juice' from it is one of my favourite pieces.

I know how nit-pickingly annoying this may sound, but....... all these guys in dinner jackets, tuxedo's etc looking gorgeous then standing with their hands in their pockets, kinda spoils all the stylishness of it for me. Sorry rant over. xxx
