On this morning on Tv theres a school teacher on about Slummy Mummies that do the school run in there P J in the morning and pick there children up again at home time in there PJ they have wrote a letter asking them to stop it, The teacher also said they turn up at parents evening in there P J. A thread just before Christmas about the school run when i got shot down for calling them fat and most of there children are fat. Just goes to show i have a point when i play hell because i can not get my car out or back in my drive

I go out in ridiculous clothes all the time. I once put my coat over my robe and fleece pajamas to walk the dogs because I'm lazy.

I understand why it matters what you wear when you go to work, or when you go somewhere where your image is important (weddings, funerals, etc.), but for most things in life I think how you dress is made overly important.

My dad used to shovel coal into boilers and do other dirty work. When he had to go to parent teacher nights he had to come straight from work. He might as well have been in pajamas. It didn't affect how I did in school.

So, while I see the importance in many scenarios,I guess I just think that in lots of different situations, how you are dressed isn't the important bit.

They might turn up in their pj's but maybe they know the difference between there and their and where to use full stops and capital letters.

When I nip to the ATM at the train station or the 24/7, I usually go in ma trackie bottoms, but if I have to go into town, I always put ma jeans on. I don't know why it should make any difference, just force of habit I guess

I find it so funny seeing them girl/women that are out pushing prams with all the face all done up like they spent time doing then ran out of energy or time so still pj bottoms and hug boots on oh don't forget the wheelchair wheels size earrings

I've seen this reported on the BBC, there story makes no suggestion that the parents and children are fat? Not sure how this story validates your previous thread?

The school run should be so simple, drive to the school park responsibly and see the little angel through the school gates, get back in car and drive away.

However for some women it appears to be a social gathering where cars traffic and inconvenience to others are just ignored.

I was hated where I used to live because I was the odd one out. I had a job and would drop the kids at school on way to work. Quite often in dresses and heels. I was looked at as if I was sonething some of the mums had stepped in. How dare I want to work? How dare I think I'm better than them when they turn up in their joggies to chain smoke in the play ground.

As for the pj's thing we have all gone somewhere in ours. I've gone to the corner shop for milk. I've jumped in the car to drop my son off somewhere early. It's not a crime.

With so much going on in the world I don't even see that it's news worthy.

While their cars are parked half on the pavements or right on a corner ....wise up that's not being sociable it's just being irresponsible I live 100 Mts from a school and it's chaos, maybe buses,delivery trucks or the bin men should reschedule to avoid these little social gatherings ...

When I worked nights I used to do the school run in my pjs as that extra 10 minutes sleep time made all the difference to me, I did always put a coat over the top of the pjs though and when I wasn't working night I work day clothes

I would never do school run in loungewear. Even when my youngest was 13 hours old I managed to get dressed & do the school run. Ok I only live 3 doors away......

Women at my kids school turned it in to a fashion parade, they must have got up earlier then the women off Eastenders to get ready.

My wife most of the time wear her PJ`s or a tracksuit to take our kids over the road to school as she said she spent most of the day doing house work.

My kids were neither fat nor unhealthy.

Think people look down their noses at to many people these days.

Doesn't surprise me, if there are breakfast clubs because parents are too lazy to get up and put cereal and milk in a bowl, getting dressed when they're going back to bed is hardly surprising.

That said, at least they walk them to school. Sometimes on my way to work in the dark I see little kids on their way to school alone.

When you have young children and you have to get some of them to school but you've been up half the night dealing with a baby for example, you're more focused on getting the kids washed and dressed and fed and to school on time, than worrying about what you're wearing yourself. Just throw a coat on wouldn't you?

Why can't they be just typically busy mums that may have spent more time on their children in the morning than getting themselves glammed? Why slummy?

Pjs lounge suits what ever they are called are for sleeping or lounging around. Would never dream of stepping foot outside the house in Jim jams.

Oh I lie I had a meet one after waking up and going for another round we got the munchies. So I went through McDonald's drive through to get us breakfast in my long coat and Jim jams

i really dont think its anything to do with being lazy i think its a fashion statement, now days walking around in pjs and ugg boots and onsies seems to be fashionable, we just all follow different fashions

this is what I was thinking. If I am not doing anything first thing I will often do my school run in my lounge clothes. Although I've already showed and just thrown something back on, as the rest of my day will be housework.

Other times I am one of those annoying mums that goes to school all made up looking glamorous.

These kids are getting to school on time and with happy parents.... Why is it even news worthy.

drop kids off at skool then rush to weatherspoons with other younger kids in tow.get the young kids toast etc sit and have a couple of pints of cider with the other slummys,....see this with my own eyes most mornings,what am I paying for .....prob all of it ....arghhhhhhhhhh

They obviously haven't started school yet but even with a 16 month old with disabilities and a 3 month old, I still manage to get up, get them both fed and dressed and throw some clothes on to get out the door on time to appointments or groups.

It only takes, like, 2 minutes to get dressed? Even if you kept your top on and threw some jeans or leggings on, I mean, I do it while brushing my teeth...

I go out in my PJs to put my wheelie bin out - I have to walk the length of the terrace twice (along the lane at the back of the houses round the corner and back in my front door. Also take the recycling boxes out the front door. Does that make me a slob? The bin and boxes have to be out by 6am so I put them out before I shower.

i used to walk my friends kids into school in pj bottoms sometimes, just looked like joggers...because she left for work at 7am and i got in from night shifts at 6am!!! and i'd be more concerned if they came home producing written English like the op's!

I'm a single dad, I get no help from my ex at all, I've been through hell this past year, but I still manage to get dressed in the morning, I have started wearing track suit bottoms to drop him off in the morning, but that'd because I've started jogging back, I don't like Sri.g people in pjs in the street, but that's me, I'm not going to judge them on other aspects of their life, one of my heros's wore pjs constantly, but no one references hitch hikers guide to the galaxy when were talking about school run attire lol

Not justifying myself as such just makes me laugh that people get Slated for wearing pj's/loungewear/ugg boots and in the next breath they are getting slated for school being a fashion parade.. Your damned if you do and damned if you don't.

I wore my black pj's with coat over and my boots to go with child to shop after our bath .But never again as bumped into a friend .my child trying to open coat .Telling my friend my mam has her pj's on .would never do it again but it's tempting when shop near and chilling out and want chocolate .

I saw that part. Pyjamas for a parent teacher meeting is odd. The school run of a morning, I'll defend, (I wouldn't judge because who knows how crazy their morning was) the school run in the afternoon, seems unnecessary.

Surely the point is PJ's you've been wearing all night then you walk your kid to school in them.

Really if you haven't got 5 minutes to put some normal clothes on then get up a few minutes earlier !

It's not about a fashion parade with the other mum's it's about a bit of common decency if not for yourself then at least a bit for your kid's sake in front of their mates, bad enough them being taken the mickey out of for having the wrong bloody trainers these days.

I've known women near here who seem to think its funny walking to school in their PJ's as they've done bugger all most of the day apart from sit and watch Jeremy Kyle with a coffee til the 3pm school run then back home in time for a quiz show of some sort.

I've brought up 6 kids walked them all to school until told " I wanna walk with my mates mum" and never once not left enough time to get up get dressed and out the door in time.

A neighbour works nights, she gets in, cleans up, puts dinner in the slow cooker, has a shower and gets in her pjs, gets the kids up and does the school run... Sometimes she over sleeps in the day and May so the afternoon one in her pjs too. She isn't lazy.. just a working mum that has to do her best.

I do not care what I wear on my school run, as long as my kids go to school.

I couldn't care less what people wear as long as their kids are getting safely to school. Would I do it? No. Would I chuck on a pair of tracksuit bottoms and a sweatshirt to do it? Yes. Is it my best look? No. Would I wear a tracksuit to parents evening? No. There are more important things to worry about.

Do the children get picked on because their parents are in PJ's? If they do , as in stand out , then I can see why the Head may ask them not to do it. If it makes no difference to the kids - I don't see the problem. At least they are getting to school - hopefully in the correct uniform.

I think my kids would be horrified if their mom took them to school in her PJs.

Think I would be too.

Each to their own, but we have always tried to set an example of getting up early, wash, get ready, breakfast and get out prepared and ready for the day.

I think if she (or even myself) didn't get ourselves changed, we would be setting a precedence that this is acceptable.

It might ruffle a few feathers, but I think it's a bit lazy. I have no problem with the odd nip out in "lazy wear or PJs", but work & school should be appropriate to the environment.

Equally, I tell my daughter off when she tries to sleep in her clothes or coat. I tell her to put her PJs on.

Whilst I'm not entirely regimented, I do like routine and can be a bit OCD.

But that's my opinion, which some will disgree with, but pretty sure some will agree with.

I use to get up a 5am get myself dressed, feed baby then get other 4 uns at at 6.30 am feed them, washed, teeth brushed, girls hair done by 7.45 the door at 8.30 x not hard just good routine x

And spend a lazy Sunday pottering around The house in them. However I guess the fact is I have actually still got changed, albeit into a clean and less obviously pj pair... I am unlikely to go out in my Disney pjs but my comfy wide legged grey or black lounge wear and a Comfy top I have no issues nipping to the shop or walking the dog in.

Why does it matter... And why is it lazy. Could understand If you do it all the time. I love my pjs and lounge pants ... I will often get up, shower and get in a clean pair.. And spend a lazy Sunday pottering around The house in them. However I guess the fact is I have actually still got changed, albeit into a clean and less obviously pj pair... I am unlikely to go out in my Disney pjs but my comfy wide legged grey or black lounge wear and a Comfy top I have no issues nipping to the shop or walking the dog in. Do you think your off on a tangent... taking your children to school in pyjamas is the threads message not changing into new pyjamas once your out of bed(saying you sweat buckets in bed anyway you should change!) anyway if we saw you at the shop in pyjamas we would class you as slovenly regardless"
to be honest I wouldn't care what anyone thought as they are clean and comfy and 99% of people wouldn't even notice. I just happen to like to be comfy. Not slovenly.

Checked this morning and no pjs on the school run....

And my post wasn't off on a tangent I am saying that not every one that does their school run in pjs slept in them.

I wouldn't dream of going to a school meeting and as I don't even get out of my car on my school run ( 3 schools, over 12miles between them ) I doubt anyone sees me. In winter it just looks like a casual long sleaved top and in summer a vest top.

Doesn't mean I don't care about my appearance or that I am lazy. As with two special needs children and two other children I do not have time to be lazy x

My Child went to breakfast club, nothing to do with lazy, more to do with fact I started work at 7am, so child minder took her to breakfast club, which was financially cheaper than paying 2 hours a morning for child care

I used to work in education and didn't particularly like seeing parents turn up in PJs - it did happen on occasion.

Didn't dwell on it though, as they and their kids were polite and engaged with their education.

I was much more annoyed with the parents dropping their kids off at the local public school in their top of the range cars. I passed it every day and many had no concept of giving way to traffic on one of the busiest roads into the city when leaving. Most days I'd see one of them drop Jemima off at the six form building, stick themselves in the the near lane aggressively, forcing traffic to stop, turn right then turn left 50 yards later into the main school buildings.

I'm sure they were ranting about slummy mummys as they did it
