I Have noticed as I get older that I take a man by his handshake.

Good solid handshake = genuine bloke

Midling handshake=half interested in you

Wimp hadshake=Putting up with you under suffereness

Am I being neurotic or do other blokes think this way.???

Judging a man by is hand shake is like is like judging a boom by its cover unless you know everything about someone then you cannot accurately judged that person

Fist bumps are the way of the future. Handshakes aren't worth risky another's sweaty palm. Yuck.

Breton I am only going by what I have experienced in my long life that time and time again it has been proven over and over again what I said in my last email.

Buzz in you first comment on your email you say you try to squeeze their hand without breaking it.isn't that a typical male trying to prove his dominance over another male.??I am only talking about the character of the man the the power and muscle of a man.

Yes..you just bow like the Japanese. Just make sure you don't knock your heads.

.

But I do make some sort of first impressions from handshakes..and eye (gaze) or other body languages.

Guilty

Beanonti I presume you mean that a man who first meets you doesn't try to break you hand with a handshake he just gives you a normal handshake.

I'm a genuine bloke and have a reasonably firm handshake. It's only polite.

I'm often amused if someone goes for the 'trying to break your hand' routine.

It's always the ones who feel they have something to prove.

Ha I'm not that powerful it's just a good picture!. As for the handshakes if it's someone I respect I'll not grip the hand or be half arsed about it, I prefer the half hug shoulder grab ha

To me the "half hug shoulder thing" is the most phoniest thing I have ever seen it should be banned by law.

this..

almost cave man like behaviour..

and it means nothing as an indicator of whatever except they've read somewhere that a crushing handshake = dominance / 'manliness'..

bit of a mystery..

A good firm handshake is an indicator of a genuine character and preferred.

Anything else makes me wary.

Don't forget about the early clenchers, those dudes that don't wait for The hands to be palm to Palm before the squeeze.

The grab your fingers and exert dominance.

"A good firm handshake is an indicator of a genuine character and preferred.

Utter nonsense ?

Many people who give a confident handshake are well practiced many are indeed in sales I would take nothing from a good handshake other than the person knows how to give a good handshake , the motives will vary

Sadly personally anecdotally, limp handshakes from either sex seem to be the most trustworthy. But I'm sure world wide statistics would illustrate no significant correlation between a persons handshake style and their trustworthiness

As a man who climbs, has rather a strong grip , I too find it amusing when some , including women , decide to squeeze as hard as they can , I don't compete I always aim to match a persons grip , lulling them into feeling equal

What ? People with confident handshakes are manipulative ? Some are some are not

Assess a person on their handshake , sounds cool however it's an erroneous prejudice xxx

A lot of people associate a strong handshake with confidence, decision making and leadership. For women it could also just be an association with protection and masculinity.

Other might just associate a strong grip as a result of excessive wanking......

I have to shake hands a lot during work, I find that some men put there hand out palm facing down, so in the hand shake there hand is above yours, sure this is a power thing, them thinking there in charge.

I just slap there hand away

I think a good solid handshake and what club tie a chap is wearing can tell you a bally lot about the cut of his jib, don't you know.

I don't mix with commoners or riffraff.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Judging handshakes...

If I misjudge the distance and th grip is a couple of mm short, I get judged a wimp, if too far, I'm too aggressive.

Why not use star signs for added scientific rigour?
