Calling all bikers let's show that bikes are better than cars.

Post what bike you got and why that model

I have got 3 bikes

1) Aprillia RSV 1000 - my weekend fun rocket

2) Suzuki gsxr 750 - my track day / race bike

3) Triumph 3TA - restored and now part of my pension pot

A very poorly vfr800 5th gen.

And having just looked through the old service history it seems the last owner (who did 900 miles in 5 years) and assured me it had had the 16k mile service might have been fooled by the service log being filled out wrong it was only about 13k when they did that service and I can't find a record for it.

So its likely I have a 34k mile bike that's never had its valves checked lol

If it's the VTEC one the valve check is a BIG job, at least 5-6 hours for that alone.

Do your CBT first and see how you get on with that. If all goes well set your budget and include the cost of insurance and helmet and clothing in that figure. Steer clear of the Chinese bikes, they are cheap and for very good reason, most are total crap. If you are looking for a bike to build your experience then something like a Honda CG125 (they should still be out there) or a Yamaha SR125 should be at the cheaper end. More recently the Yamaha YBR125 or the Honda CBF125 might fit the bill.

"Z 750 bright orange fab bike "

The last bike I had was a '81 L1. I bought it in '86 and stripped it all down (inc engine) and spent an idyllic summer touring Europe on it the following year.

However it wasn't as quick round the Island as ma Beckett tuned RD 400 which would eat many a 750 up.

Rider, tyres, shockers, brakes or engine, who knows

I moved from owning only 200cc Lambrettas to a 1600cc HD

Simililar riding position....slow...n don't corner

Never catch me on a jap thing with mi matching leathers escaping from mi job as a tampax rep during the week in mi Vauxhall Astra (gsi) pretending I'm Barry Stoner Sheen or whoever lol

I avoid anyone on two wheels whose leathers match their bike.... = crap rider! no training

Ps I also avoid HD riders too... Slow n no confidence

classic scooterists always get the nod from me....

(Not Vespa riders, obviously)

Sold my BMW 650 x-country due to violent lazy ex-partner running up huge debts. Still miss him - the bike not the waste of space ex. Now on a Suzuki trailie - excellent fun on and off road

"Scooters are for men who want to ride Motorcycles but prefer to feel the wind in their vaginas.....just saying

Lol

I moved from owning only 200cc Lambrettas to a 1600cc HD

Simililar riding position....slow...n don't corner

Never catch me on a jap thing with mi matching leathers escaping from mi job as a tampax rep during the week in mi Vauxhall Astra (gsi) pretending I'm Barry Stoner Sheen or whoever lol

I avoid anyone on two wheels whose leathers match their bike.... = crap rider! no training

Ps I also avoid HD riders too... Slow n no confidence

classic scooterists always get the nod from me....

(Not Vespa riders, obviously)

;-)

/tongue in cheek"

Always buy black leathers, they go with every bike and you're gonna go through bikes faster than leathers if all goes well lol

I'm still hoping my mate, who's 76, will leave me his 1973 Mk1 850 cc Norton Commando. He's had it from new and has been meticulously maintained. He has refused to sell any of his bikes even though I've offered him top dollar for this particular one, it's a real head turner

I would love a Ducati Diavel

None at the minute but I had a TZR 125 when I was younger to burn around, nippy little thing.

When I finally get round to passing my test I want a Zx-10 For the road and an Rd 350 lc for dicking about on because I heard they're hilarious

Seriously on a public road any car can beat a bike. Has nothing to do with power to weight ratio.

I've ridden bikes for 20 years. My last bike was a Honda blackbird my current diesel fiesta would beat any of the 16 bikes i have owned. Easy.

The fact remains it doesn't matter how powerful your bike or car is, the speed limit is 70. A modern diesel can do 60mpg a "race" with flowing traffic over a long distance would be won by the car as it won't have to stop as often for fuel and above all its comfortable. If you think bikes v are quick around the race track think on this... A super go-kart laps Thruxton faster than a British super bike. A go-kart...
