Can understand why people take phones babysitters etc....

But surely it's not beyond the wit of man or woman to leave them in the locker and keep checking them................................................................................Is it?????????????

Any image thats records video etc is normaly banned but phones are so small everyone just takes them in.

they rely on people keeping them in there pockets & not useing them.

I think it is a rule that can never really be inforced, as people will always say what if the baby sitters needs to contact me etc etc there will always be exscuses.

Start to worry if some one is pointing 1 at you !!!

But it could be an emergency and their child could be on their way to hospital! Fuck knows what sort of baby sitter they hired

So they have to have it with them, just in case.

Oddly they don't mind leaving it in their locker whilst they spend an hour in the jacuzzi!

"would it not be possible to set phone to call divert to club house phone, that way ensuring contact was still possible"

The divert is of course possible.

Locating the wanted person may be a bit trickier....has anyone seen Bob & Jan? Bob's wearing a towel and Jan's got a basque on....

Plus now the babysitter knows the name of the "restaurant" you've gone to...

It's relevant because having had their mobile diverted to the club phone, it's going to be answered by a member of staff. Who is then going to need to identify one specific couple from all of the other couples milling around (many of whom may actually be part of another couple), when they're all dressed broadly alike.

Does that explain it?

Indeed they would.... especially if they are having to go around knocking on all the locked private rooms or trying to spot the appropriate couple in the middle of a naked pile of bodies.

But then if you absolutely NEED to be in immediate contact with someone else.... surely it's just better NOT to go somewhere the rules say you shouldn't carry your phone around with you.

Why not accidentally on purpose leave the phone at home, you could always ring home to see if the kids were ok, i'm sure the club would let you use their phone.

It isn't a mobile...this is your scenario - where 20 couples and 30 single men all divert their mobiles to the club's landline.

I don't know why people need phones in clubs of any sort. 20 years back I went out to clubs, pubs, whatever and noone had one. Didn't change anything.

This whole thing of "always being reachable" is some kind of social fallacy. If you are in such a situation that you may need to be reached with such urgency, you probably shouldn't be going out.

I wouldn't go to a club where they allowed phones to be used. One club I use goes as far as no bags to stop that sort of thing can leave it at the bar or in locker. If people are going to worry that much just don't go!

I grew up without a mobile phone.(they weren't around in the 70's) I went to clubs, pubs, away for the weekend etc without being contactable and I never came to any harm.

When my children were small, we left a number for emergencies or if we were too far away, my parents number.

What is wrong with people where they are glued to their ruddy mobiles 24 hours a day and how did they ever cope growing up.

I still don't carry a mobile. If I'm out, I'm out and if anyone wants me in an emergency, they leave a message at home and I contact them as soon as I get back.

Phones in clubs........ leave them in your locker and go back and check. But if you feel the need to check them every 1/2 hour, you either have a problem or you shouldn't be in a club!!

No it doesn't, and it's not just applicable to parents. Some people can't go ANYWHERE without their mobile phones: it's like an extension of their hand.

I have children too, and a job that means I maybe on call...my phone is not glued to my hand though!

i would've used a payphone to call home to check everything was ok, like my parents did, but as i have a mobile phone there is no need for that. it is easier to go to my locker to check i have no missed calls than it is to go to my locker for change then go to the phone to call home.

i would have thought the over riding factor here is the security of privacy issue.

would you rather allow phones to be carried and take the risk of some illicit photographs being taken and maybe published or check your phone every whatever time period you choose.

I don't agree that it's that simple. Just because communication used to be more difficult, doesn't mean we should we able to return to those times at the flick of a switch - the accessibility of communication is at the core of our society these days, so it's understandable that people default to using it in all situations.

Agree with the poster above.

I think to be fair to most clubs they ban phones because of the implications for people's privacy.

I guess it's up to clubgoers to respect that and report people breaching the clubs' rules.

That's not a very good attitude is it? If you feel the need to keep your phone on you, well, that's up to you, but stating openly on here that you think that rules don't need to be obeyed isn't very clever.

There maybe people out there reading this, with sensitive personal circumstances obliging them to be discreet (Oi! William! Bi night is Monday mate! And bring Ffion) thinking of going to Chams, but who are now not so sure, seeing as people apparently flout the rules about phones. What other rules are broken with impunity? It's a slippery slope, especially as there may be people who are less honorable than you and your partner, with less respect for other rules, where does it end?

Rules is rules mate, for good reason, if YOU don't like them, stay away, simple. There used to be (dunno, might still be) a notice up saying that anyone caught with a phone in there would be barred, phones were only to be switched on and used in reception. Seems good enough for me, leave it in your locker and check it every hour or whatever.

If I saw you with your phone, you'd be fishing it out of the jacuzzi.

(And yes, I have done it before. The knuckle-dragging twat who owned it declined to go outside and discuss it further - confirming a guilty conscience IMHO.)

Personally I think mobiles are a bloody curse, you can't do anything anymore without someone calling you, and why I switch mine off a lot

If we went to clubs though and saw someone with a phone with a camera we would be really peed off.

In some clubs they are - as it is the camera photo/video function which is the issue.

But another solution is to buy a cheap pager.

The divert is of course possible.

Locating the wanted person may be a bit trickier....has anyone seen Bob & Jan? Bob's wearing a towel and Jan's got a basque on....

Plus now the babysitter knows the name of the "restaurant" you've gone to...

i hadnt suggested a web cam, so whats the relevance of what they are wearing? "

i hadnt noticed anyone mention a webcam but for the record, Chameleons is classed as a sauna club therefore men wear towels and the ladies can either do the same or wear sexy underwear unless its a special party, like the annual Pussy Posse Beach Party in which case, men could wear shorts and ladies bikinis

Personally I think mobiles are a bloody curse, you can't do anything anymore without someone calling you, and why I switch mine off a lot

If we went to clubs though and saw someone with a phone with a camera we would be really peed off."

Same here as i think no-one would really want pictures of them sent round work would they

"We had our phones with us in Chams as it was the first time we'd been out overnight away from littleun and Siren flatly refused to be unreachable. If that's a problem for the club or anyone else attending then bollocks to them.

The knuckle-dragging twat who owned it declined to go outside and discuss it further - confirming a guilty conscience IMHO.) "

If you notice though, he did say it was the first time they had been away from the little ones, so personally having kids myself, im with them on that one, nothing worse than worrying all night about the kids, one cannot relax and enjoy oneself, i know ive been there myself, and ive also babysat for a couple with a new baby, they kept popping back to the room on and off all night.

On the other hand, as ive said earlier though, no-one wants to find pictures of themselves being sent round the office.

Thank goodness my kids are grown up now as i didnt worry at all sunday night

"I don't know why people need phones in clubs of any sort. 20 years back I went out to clubs, pubs, whatever and noone had one. Didn't change anything.

This whole thing of "always being reachable" is some kind of social fallacy. If you are in such a situation that you may need to be reached with such urgency, you probably shouldn't be going out."

Thats true and i used to walk home from nightclubs to the house on the council estate where i lived, and safely too but i could easily use a payphone if i needed too

Ah right, so our 'crime' is not taking the phones with us, but openly stating that we did? (we saw plenty of people using mobiles on Sunday in Chams so obviously a lot of people think it is a silly rule and are prepared to defy it).

If we decide to take our phones with us wherever we go it is of no business of yours. And trust me, if you threw it in the jacuzzi you wouldn't have had to wait to go outside to settle the matter as you'd have been going in after it a split second later.

If you've got kids of your own you would know how a first time mother feels about going out for the night leaving her child with other people for the first time. Life doesn't cease when you have kids.

For the record, my phone does not have a camera built into it as it is a work phone and a camera phone is not neccessary for my job, so they provide a basic phone only. It was set to discrete so only I heard it when it beeped. How is that intrusive to anyone?

Stupid rules deserve to be broken.

If the sign said 'No camera phones' I'd support such a rule. I couldn't take a photo with it, nor record anyone shagging with it (although I don't think anyone would want sound only). It was on silent and disturbed nobody, but gave Siren peace of mind to enjoy herself. Is that such a crime?

Do you think phones should be allowed in cinemas? Or do you hate it when that idiot at the front takes his call?

You're talking semantics here. If the issue of barring phones in swinging clubs is to prevent unwanted photos being taken then a cameras without such a facility should be permissable. A discrete beep affects nobody in a noisy club full of people in all sorts of throws of passion, but in a cinema where silence is expected so that all can enjoy the movie is a different matter entirely.

Yes I am talking semantics but then, so are you. You believe a rule needs to be changed to accommodate you and others in your position, but you don't respect what people not in your position want.

I'm sorry but being a parent doesn't give you automatic rights to behave a certain way. As I said long ago in this post people have given birth since we were monkeys and we've only had mobiles for 15 years.

So what. We've had TVs for 50 years now but I don't see people standing round the fire singing songs of an evening anymore. Move with the times man, and understand that a communication device that allows one to keep tabs on what's happening at home whilst out and about is reassuring, comforting and just plain easy to do now.

An establishment that doesn't move with the times will soon find itself bereft of clientelle.

"

I saw plenty of phones on Sunday.

Let's take Chams as an example.

£10 per head entry.

Average 150 people x £10 = £1,500 from the door alone.

Factor in an average spend of £10 per head inside the club on soft drinks etc

Another £1,500

Total : £3,000 per night

Average that out over a week, taking account of lower attendances for weekdays and you're looking at a weekly income of something in the region of £15,000.

Now remove all those that have been barred for using a phone. (Assume they've had a crack down and religiously banned everyone caught with one)

The management would soon find their income down by a considerable % and would be forced to look at the rule regarding non-camera mobile phones.

An establishment where there's even the possibility that some clients are in a position to be able take photographs of other clients in compromising situations - even if there's no evidence of them actually doing it - is far more likely to cause a haemorrage of punters.

Chameleons website tells us "Mobile Phones are only allowed in the locker rooms, anyone found using Camera phones or Camera's anywhere with the club will have their membership revoked."

Perhaps someone involved with running the club will tell us whether that rule still applies or not.

Exactly, the chance that someone, somewhere will take a photo of someone and do something bad with it far FAR outweighs the concerns of people who want to be able to use phones.

And no, it'll never be a partial bad on camera phones because then the owners would have to check every single phone.

Camera phones are prohibited outside of a locker room or reception areas in most adult clubs for good reason, I think the vast majority of people who use swingers and fetish clubs understand the reason for this ruling and comply.

Maybe those that don't regularly frequent these kind of clubs see it a different way, but that won't defer from the perfectly understandable reasons that most clubs operate this rule.

This is no more than selfish attitudes by those with no regard for others, the rule is there for the comfort of all the club users.

Why should the phone users be allowed to cause disruption for the majority so they can feel relaxed during the evening?

Why should others need to walk around the club asking those with phones, with good reason, 'can I just make certain that your phone has no camera function', that is just ridiculous and selfish.

Thing is we never take our phones we know the rules, We ask at the club if we can get taxie and thats it. I can see if you had young-family there maybe a need and in locker just to look at now and again to make sure all is well... But for singles and alot of us couples theres no need at all to have them there. Some singles may like them to get people numbers for dates after find it easyer them getting pen and paper ,,,

Newcastle and Gateshead

it has been an interesting conversation to read.....

all I will add to it is this....

are we now honestly surprised that so many "expose" of clubs happen??? after reading this I am not surprised at all....

in fact I can just see some moralistic editor at some office in london now thinking... "too easy" we can splash this across 5-10 pages on a very slow sunday newsday.... let the "witch hunt" begin again....

security vs privacy........ you weigh one up against the other, and I think that this has brought the situation to light

I think the other, important (from a business angle) view of this, is:

1. Ban phones at a venue

2. Some people leave, not happy

3. Eventually the same people *may* come back.

or

1. Don't ban phones

2. Anyone with any worry about privacy leaves

3. And never comes back.

I'm sure most owners would be more than happy to loose the former, over the latter.

Not to mention, the moment something did get out, the club would be all but ended.

Taking a mobile into a club that does not have the facility to take photographs is LESS potentially damaging than taking a drawing pad and a box of pencils. It's a silly rule and needs to be looked at.

A club does not have to check every phone a member of staff sees, only those reported to them by clients that suspect a photo of them has been taken, and I'm pretty sure that with the amount of people around like there was on Sunday, anyone seen using a camera phone would have got short shrift from not just those they were taking photos of. I would have said something to them and reported them to the staff had I seen it, and I would inform the unsuspecting person being photographed that a photo had been taken.

As for diverting a mobile to the club's house phone, well, that's just nonsensical. On a busy night the staff take ages to answer the phone and then they're expected to go and find the person being requested? They'd just hang up.

Plus, a diverted call would show up on my employer's phone bill and I'd rather they didn't know about what I do when not at work, even though I am allowed to use my work phone for non-work related calls.

If someone wants to take photos in a club they will and probably not with a camera phone as there are so many covert devices you could use.

But the fact is rules say no phones and that's for many different reasons. You join, you agree to membership rules and that should be the end of it.

Fortunatley the vast majority of regular club attendees fully understand the reason for banning phones outside of locker areas so it isn't an issue really.

Clubs are not going to change these rules to suit the minority so it isn't really ever likely to change.

So if a club rule stated that men must wear a Little Bo Peep outfit on their first, third and fifth visits it's a rule that should be followed rigorously, yes?

Now, if it's a rule. One they've decided to have for whatever reason, regardless of it's silliness, should it be complied with?

That's the strangest part though. A locker room is the one place where you're more likely to find people in various states of undress, or even totally naked than anywhere else. It's the last place where a phone should be allowed if it has a camera on it.

I don't suppose it will but a relaxation of the rules if someone uses their phone in a quiet corner of the club to send a quick text or reply to one should be considered favourably. How long does it take to ascertain if a phone has a camera or not, you only have to look at it to see the lens.

Rugby: Sorry, I don't get what you said there. The issue is phones taking photos isn't it? The locker room is where you'll be pretty much guaranteed to see naked or semi-naked people.

Nowhere is too far for the determined, or willing to make the efforts if something is really that important to them IMHO!

I had my dog in the car at Chams due to lack of dog sitter etc., and I did not want to leave him all alone in the hotel.

I made the effort to check up on him every 2h or so to make sure he is ok, much to the staff's amusement!

Time before last, at Chams, a discussion cropped up around the bar about calories in semen. Being a gentleman to assist a lady in her moment of need... I went to my locker and returned to the bar with my phone, ready to dial up a google search. A brief lighthearted reminder of club rules preceded my dash to return said phone from whence it came.

(6 calories per teaspoonfull ladies )

Chams rules is my rules...

They have a perfectly good garage where you could have left Fido with a blanket and a bowl of water. Our car was parked in it and there was plenty of room for him to roam about in.

Don't get me wrong, I know were Siren is coming from, and I can understand why you would want to make sure the littlen was ok, but if the rule was phones allowed in lockers, then maybe just keep going back to check your phone every now and then?

I am guessing IF they are allowed in the lockers then Chams have thought about the fact people will be in there too, but maybe they are just trying to contain things and keep them in the same place? I am also guessing that if you were in your locker you would be more aware if someone was trying to take a photo than you would be if you were being pounded by someone in a playroom

I think it was the Bo Peep scenario...

There are some who would complain that they couldn't wear such an outfit on every visit!

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

Maybe this is why clubs are increasingly not switching the lights on......I swear it gets darker every time I go to these places...so that anyone taking a pic will get a crap image unless they use a flash...which would give them away.

"I think when clubs weigh things like this up the need to protect the privacy of club members far outweighs the need to keep in touch with baby sitters.

That won't change

I don't suppose it will but a relaxation of the rules if someone uses their phone in a quiet corner of the club to send a quick text or reply to one should be considered favourably. How long does it take to ascertain if a phone has a camera or not, you only have to look at it to see the lens.

Rugby: Sorry, I don't get what you said there. The issue is phones taking photos isn't it? The locker room is where you'll be pretty much guaranteed to see naked or semi-naked people.

I am also guessing that if you were in your locker you would be more aware if someone was trying to take a photo than you would be if you were being pounded by someone in a playroom "

Um... this is gonna stir things up a bit, but.... we didn't have a locker. They gave us one but when they realised we were staying in one of the hotel rooms they took the locker key back as they reckoned we could go to our room to change etc. What they didn't realise was that Siren was not going to go outside wearing a bikini and a sarong, in the middle of Birmingham. (the door leading directly from the club upstairs to the the hotel rooms was locked whilst the club was open)

The Holiday Inn Express and The Village hotels both accept dogs.

HIE now charges 10 GBP per night though. Luckily, they brought that in after my booking, so I did not have to pay the extra.

Hopefully, that was a one-off due to his dog walker being away, and the kennel does not open on BH for me to collect him.

I made sure I made the neccessary arrangements for him, even when it meant inconvenence to me, as I would hate to impose him on the club and other people.

I'm not trying to justify keeping my phone with me at all. If the club staff had spotted me with it and asked me to leave, or turn it off, we would have left. We would have shown them it was not capable of taking photos but if they still insisted we leave then so be it. If all that bothered some people is a very low beep every couple of hours then, to be absolutely honest, I couldn't give a stuff about them.

Is there a facepalm smiley on here? You ARE trying to justify keeping your phone, apparently because your babysitter might possibly ring you. That's fine,I'm not going to get into personal issues, I might feel the same if there was a possibility my stockbroker might call me when I was many miles away from home, shagging and partying. If I really felt that guilty, I'd stay at my desk.

Anyway, to answer your question to me a few posts above, my point to you was that had you kept your phone in your pocket, said nothing to anyone, in particular in this thread appearing to say "Bollocks to club rules, break them if you don't like them", then no-one would be any the wiser. Whilst I am 100% behind the rules, for all the reasons argued by everyone above, if you needed that safety line, got away with it, well, don't brag about it and it doesn't become an issue.

It's not a "very low beep every couple of hours" that bothers people, it's the phone/camera/privacy issue, along with club rules being visibly adhered to, however inane YOU find them.

In your first post on here, you didn't make clear that your phone was a non-camera one, and FWIW, I'd actually say there SHOULD be no problem with you carrying or using it. However, because a phone with a camera seems to be the norm, phones are banned, so that's that, no phones.

If you go and re-read my first post on here I stated clearly that I didn't give a toss about the rule. So I am not justifying why I should keep MY phone with ME if I choose to. Later I stated that IF the club had asked me to put it in my room or leave, we would have left.

If you want to blindly follow arcane rules then that's your decision, but I have a brain in my head and I can determine for myself which rules are sensible and which are ridiculous (and I'm only talking about swinging clubs here so please don't try and cross that approach over into other areas of life).

A camera phone has obvious uses apart from being a phone, but a phone without a camera has but one use only... unless one favours phone sex, literally.

hmmmmm I have kept quiet in this thread (except for one excursion away from the op's question) but your last comment wishy is rather naieve to think that swinging clubs should be any different from other places. I can think of two that are very similar types of rules, The cinema and the theatre - maybe you don't go to either or you flaunt the rules there too.

Fortunately for the majority of club users these rules are not seen as arcane and they are more than happy to agree with them and accept them.

I am very happy that clubs like Chams choose to protect the majority of their members even if it means a minority don't like the rules.

I suppose the real point is nobody forces anyone to go to the club, the rules are published and if you don't like them the choice is not to go.

Many clubs have rules not just swinging clubs, games have rules, sports have rules, infact our lives are governed by rules. If we decide to go somewhere that has rules we don't like and we don't abide by them we have nobody to blame but ourselves if there are subsequent consequences.

We love Chams and on occassions I am on call when we go there, but as has been stated many times I just go back to the locker and check at regular intervals.

Clubs that I have been to that don't provide lockers do operate a 'phone sitting' service at reception or at the bar.

There is never any excuse for taking a phone into an adult club as there are always alternatives on offer.

Having been a regular attendee at Chams for over 5 years last Sunday was the only time we have ever known there not to be enough lockers to go round and they didn't run out until late in the evening. The beauty of chams is that you go in, get a locker, put everything away (including money) have a great evening, put yer clothes back on at the end of the evening and pay yer bill on the way out. Other clubs may differ I don't know but we are specifically (although not what the OP was expecting) talking about last weekend at Chams.

I actually remember a similar thread last year when some people didn't agree with the dress code and wanted to flaunt that.

I repeat what I said a few minutes ago, the club has published rules - you choose if you want to go or not, but if you choose to go, by implication you accept the rules.

Erm, OK, so just to clarify then - all you have said about your phone being a non-camera phone, your babysitter etc is irrelevant? What you mean, the crux of your argument, is that you saw a rule, didn't like it, so broke it,and you think everyone else should do the same? Why didn't you simply say "I don't obey rules I don't like" and leave it at that then, why mention the child at home? That sounded like your justification for carrying your phone to me, but obviously I must be wrong, you carried your phone because you don't give a toss about the club rules. I apologise unreservedly for my lack of comprehension.

Next time I'm at Chams, I'll hit the jacuzzi, dripping with scented body lotion* and sit there sipping a Red Bull. If they have to close and drain it because I've broke the rules and contaminated it (like drink and body oils/lotions are the worst things lurking in those waters FFS), I'll just tell everyone that I thought the rules were shit, so disobeyed them. I'm sure If I make it uncomfortable, or spoil the enjoyment of everyone else who uses the place, fuck it, the wake of trouble I'll leave after being kicked out will not be my problem, right? I'm sure everyone will understand anyway. Yeah, great way to behave.

*Yep, like I'm going to be putting perfumed lotions on!

Seriously though, according to the rules on chams site, camera phones shouldn’t be used anywhere within the club, so taking a camera phone in full stop is breaking the rules, whether its in a locker room or not, so anyone with a camera phone who pops into the locker room to use it is also breaking rules. The rules are worded badly and open to interpretation, mobile phones and camera phones are two different things.

Dog, I certainly understand the rules and the reasons as we dont want pics of us in the press while we are busy at a club hence the no phones/cameras rule.

But it is also fact that pretty much everyone that goes to chams or any club will have a mobile phone in their bag/handbag. Lots of us are parents so may have family or sitters having the kids while we are away having fun.

I do think it important that a club respects that everyone pretty much has them now. But they should be kept in lockers and only checked/be used while in the locker room for emergency use.

If they are seen in anywhere else then that is wrong and a deffinate risk.

Think that the guy showing his text to say he is clear tho is deffinately sounding desperate and a very clear breaking of rules and not for emergency situations.

Those that keep it in the pocket...or on them wether in their handbag or whatever is still wrong.

If someone has my kids for me then I would either return to the locker on regular intervals to check on the phone or just dont come to a club if it is essential that my phone is to hand at all times.

I personally leave mine with volume off in my locker. Yes I know it is wrong but do feel the rule is slightly old and needs to be rewritten to a more realsitic rule.

As said most people have a phone and bet they dont leave it in their car fir the evening when at a club.

Change the rules to a more practical one please

Haven't read the whole thread but agree with the consensus of leaving a mobile in the locker if you have to take one for emergencies...

But you'd be using a condom anyway in a club so why does it matter...? Sorry if somebody else has already mentioned this simple fact! LOL!

Almost all clubs ban phones/cameras etc.

Xstasia takes them from you at the door I believe and that is not a problem if you dont like that dont go there.

Chameleons do not allow phones in the club, obviously they dont search people so many people take them in, often they sneak them into the toilets to check with babysitters etc and this is understandable.

If you see someone with a phone in a club just report them to the staff who will deal with the matter as they see fit, in chameleons this will be a friendly warning to start with but removal from the club for a 2nd violation of the rules

Most clubs rely heavily on the members to report anything you see as wrong, a bit like here on Fab, if in doubt report it and let the staff deal with it but if you dont report it they cannot help, no site or club can have eyes everywhere all the time.

"We had our phones with us in Chams as it was the first time we'd been out overnight away from littleun and Siren flatly refused to be unreachable. If that's a problem for the club or anyone else attending then bollocks to them. "

Here you say "we had our phones" which suggests you had two phones, or have I and others misunderstood that comment ?

Were they both call only telephones?

Why didn't you simply call the club days ahead of your visit to explain your phone issue, explaining your thoughts on the subject as you have here, after the event?

Was it simply that you knew what the outcome would be so decided to do things your way ?

I'll stick with my original thoughts on your statement towards phones. No matter what justifications you tell the majority, this was a selfish act with no regard for others as you have stated now on more than one occasion ie, it's a stupid rule and I'll do what I please.

Yup. Correct. Purely self serving. Siren would never have gone if she couldn't keep in touch with my parents who were looking after littleun as it the first time we'd left him overnight with someone. If you don't like that or agree with it then tough, go tell it to someone who cares cos I don't.

Wishy...Throughout this thread you have shown a disregard for rules and others opinions. Perhaps for you first night away your should have thought about where to go a bit more. Instead of travelling to Stoke from Tyneside about 150 to 200 miles, it may have been better to "trial" it closer to home and somewhere that phones are not against the rules!

I am also intrigued that there is a lack of posts by those at Chams on the night or those that go there regularly! Perhaps this is more widespread than is being admitted! Why has there been no post by the club itself? Perhaps they turn a blind eye to it?

When you join any club, you accept the rules that are in place at the time, if you don't, then don't join! That is the reason we don't go to Chams, even thought it has a great rep! I do not want to walk about in a towel, so we don't go!

ALL phones should be banned from inside clubs, even voice only phones. The club does not have time to check every single phone and the easiest way is to ban all of them.

And if you are that worried about leaving your little one and travelling that distance, then don't do it!

We were there that night,if I saw someone pointing a phone at anyone I would have said something,no doubt about it

The same with someone walking around texting or talking on it

If I saw someone holding their phone to take it outside to use then I don't see a problem with that

We had our phone with us in a locker,no-one checked our bags on the way in and if they had I would have handed it over but still checked it on occassion

Its easy to say that you could go and use a payphone to call home, when was the last time anyone saw one of those around with an actual phone that works in it?

You don't me so don't even think to comment on my life or how I live it. I have been to Chams plenty of times in the past but Siren hadn't, plus it was her first night away from littlun. Now, cast your mind back to when you spent the first night away from your first child, did it bother you? Were you checking in periodically to see if all was ok?

To say what you said about not going is the same as telling anyone who has children never to go out and leave them.

You know nothing of our lives so mind your own goddam business, as, as you say, nobody that was there on the night has said anything about me having a phone there, so either I was discrete enough to ensure it didn't bother anyone, or they simply don't give a flying fuck about it. Sheesh!

I would have thought it was a no brainer really. No phones!

As parents to a young child we've left him overnight to attend a hotel 150 miles away. Only becuase we were sure we could do so with minimal chance of getting a call from the in laws saying something was wrong. I'm sure it's been said many times but if you can't be uncontactable for a few hours then maybe you shouldn't be going.

I had no problem with leaving our lad, I knew he'd be ok, but he is Siren's first and only a woman can fathom another woman's mind in matters like this, they seem to go mental for a while lol... One of the reasons we attended Chams on Sunday was because of the accusations that we've had in the past about Siren not even existing. We went there to lay a few ghosts to rest, permanently.

Will we go again? Probably but it's not crucial. Will I take my phone? Probably, but it won't be crucial either as littleun will be older.

Some people just like to control others don't they, well, bollocks to that. I paid my money to Chams and they were happy to take it - for the hotel room as well as the entrance fee. I've been in the swinging scene long enough to know about cameras in clubs and that's all that matters to me. If someone else is stupid enough to use a camera in a club then it's for the club to deal with - not you, not I, not anyone else. It's their rule so it's their responsibility.

I know, it's a wonder any of use born before mobile phones survived!

I work with people who can't attend an hour long meeting without their phone on and with them. I've worked since my son was a year and half old and once in that time have I had to leave my work to collect him. I was in a meeting at a time and lo and behold people were still able to get the message to me without my phone being glued to me! Crazy, but true!

It sounds like there are other issues going on here and that's your business. As a mum I know it can be a bit daunting leaving your child but if you're not comfortable doing it then just don't!

Now I might just be a heartless moo but I've never really found it that hard. For the sake of getting a bit of me time and letting my hair down I've always quite happily waved my son off for the night!

The past defines EVERYTHING about how we live today.

Bullshit. It's reflective only. How we move forward is not determined by our ancestors as they are dead and gone. "

You're so right.

I'm not going to bother paying back that 10k i owe you.

I borrowed it in the past.

Feel as reflective about it as you want.

O o O oo

OK just for curiosity...........how many of the people who go to clubs actually take their phones with them?

Do you leave them in a locker, if there isn't any locker were would you put them?

wishy might have said he is sticking his two fingers up at the rules, but is it really a case of he is the only one who admits to it, and that others have done the same thing?

We've only been once so far to club/hotel and we had a room to leave our stuff in and went down for the evening with just cash and cigs on us. I did pop up to the room to get changed and checked my phone then.

If we were going to club and it didn't have lockers I'd be worred about a lot more than just my phone. I'd be checking out the locker situation before going and leaving my phone there.

You left the number where you were going to be so the sitter could call you.

"

Or i guess, as an alternative, you could phone home and check everything was okay.

"If Chameleons (or any other club) haven't worked out how to answer a phone with an element of discretion that's a very poor show."

I recall chatting to one of the staff there and them telling me that they are very discreet when answering the phone, because they get no end of partners who find membership cards in pockets on washday, wonder why exactly their other half is a member of a club on the other side of the country, and pick up the phone to find out what kind of establishment it is.

Strangely enough, they don't answer the phone with "Hello, Chameleons Shag Palace and Hump-a-rama, libertinous pecadillos for the discerning sexual adventurer, which department do you require? Press 1 for masturbation, 2 for straight sex, 3 for a crowd, 4 for swapping, 5 for gangbangs, and 69 for oral."

Well, at least they didn't. I think they just tell people it's a Health Club or a Social Club and leave it at that.

If you leave your phone at reception and explain you are on call for work, for example, they will keep an ear out for it ringing, though I guess it's up to you not to stray too far away from the bar if you are expecting a call.

Mind you, if you are 200 miles away and there's an emergency, what are you going to do, jump in the helicopter and nip home?

I have, and I leave it in the locker as I did on sunday, went to get changed, checked it,then and carried on with enjoying myself,if there had been something that I really needed to deal with then I would have taken it out of the club and dealt with it

I doubt very much if it was just Wishy and myself that had phones in that club on sunday, and as someone else said they have seen people sitting on the sundeck at chams texting people

We saw three people in our group with phones on Sunday, one of them for the same reason as us. And they checked them regularly, same as us. No names of course.

Of course.

"Hey. Mum, here's Chameleons number, if there's a problem call them and ask for us but you might have to shout as they'll be a lot of people having sex in the background, plus it may take them a while to find us as we'll more than likely be shagging in the orgy room. Ok?""

a little bit of an own goal here

We are by no means the only couple on here who do not wish their families to find out that we are swingers. So yes, a few porkies need to be told if we want a night out swinging thesedays. And no, the 'friend' is not known to my family and as we have mobile phones thesedays there is no need to pass on our friends phone number to our family, is there?

But how simple is it to head off all these potential pitfalls with a simple text message that reads, "Everything ok?"

That's the system that works best for us, and that's what we'll continue to do, and if anyone doesn't like that, tough. I don't even know what your face looks like so do you think I'm going to give a damn about your opinion?

~ oops, thanks Notts, quick off the mark again I see, with bugger all to say.

I was going to delete the last paragraph as there ARE people on here who's opinions I respect and I don't know what they look like, so I retract that comment. Apologies.

and then you'd get a txt back saying "Yes.".

And then you can switch your phone off and put it in the locker.

It would seem everyone's entitled to an opinion provided that opinion is that it's OK to have a phone in Chameleons - otherwise you're just "talking bollox"."

""I don't even know what your face looks like so do you think I'm going to give a damn about your opinion?"

You should. and indeed will have to, whether you like it or not.

Because it's not a case of your opinion against another persons opinion.

There are a GROUP of people who don't want you to have your phone.

They are the majority. You are the minority.

It will be incumbent on you to to do what the GROUP wants.

Or you can't be part of the group.

Simples, innit.

So if the 'group' decided they wanted to shag my missus, did they have that right to do so? Were we expected to allow them to do what they wanted in order to remain a part of that 'group'. You're talking bollocks again. 300 people in Chams clearly disagree with you as nobody seemed to have a problem with me using my phone. Could that be that I never actually got on anyone's nerves with it. Except for you, and you weren't ever there. "

Did you have ya phone with ya Wishy...never noticed lol

Wether anyone agrees with it or not I am sure he wasn't the only person to have their phone in there..........and it must be the case as that was why the thread was started.

My phone is in the locker as its in my handbag and stays there on silent and I check it periodically.

I stayed over at chams the other week and actually left it in the room that time. I went back the following mid week and as I didnt stay for the night it stayed in my locker.

Have been going to clubs now for a number of years and habe always had my phone with me and it has always stayed in my locker and will continue.

ok fine np..

if peeps complain about phones in niteclubs/parties/swing clubs etc then they shouldnt have them with them in the 1st place.

or the club/parties should set up some kind of rule..etc

"You don't me so don't even think to comment on my life or how I live it.

Sheesh! "

Last post from me!

But you didn't answer the question I wanted answered... If you were so worried out leaving you new baby alone, why travel that distance where it would have taken you three hours to get home! AND where the rules you agreed to when you joined (tacit agreement because you could have decided not to join!) say NO PHONES!

I do understand that leaving a baby for the first time is traumnatic, but when we did it, we made sure we were near enough to get home in good time. We certainly wouldn't have been three hours away!

In no way was I saying that any parent can never leave a child and to say that is bordering on peurile! BUT.. New baby and you are worried? So you went to a swingers club? Where phones are not allowed and you still went?

When you post on an open forum, you are asking for replies! So no, I won't "mind your (my) own goddam business".

There could be a number of reasons others haven't replied. Perhaps they like you but don't like what you have said so they aren't posting! Perhaps they are just waiting for you to produce enough rope and do the condemming all by yourself. Perhaps they all carry phones and are keeping quiet!

Who knows, but it has done one thing... It has ensured that apart from the having to wear a towel thing, we will never attend. Privacy and security are important to us and yes I suppose that people do take phones into other clubs, but it is your "Fuck You" attitude and your complete disregard for the very rules you signed up to that would put us off.. It would do well for the club to make it clear it won't be tollerated, or perhaps more will follow...

Gone!

getting this back to the individual that the OP cited. it is apparent that on the night in the club there was someone wandering around with impunity displaying a phone.

never having been to the club, i have no idea of its layout at all. but it seems from the way its been posted that he was accessing most areas with it.

no one there can vouch safe that pics of them were not taken and could possibly be used for malicious purposes.

we've seen a few profiles on here with profile pix taken in clubs. should these pix now be deleted? even if the pix only show the members of that profile they would have been taken surreptitiously if the club has a phone ban.

"That's the system that works best for us, and that's what we'll continue to do, and if anyone doesn't like that, tough. I don't even know what your face looks like so do you think I'm going to give a damn about your opinion?"

OK, but I know what YOUR face looks like, I clocked you, along with a few others as I quietly put faces-to-names at Chameleons on Sunday night (when I could bloody move through the throng!), not that I can see the relevance of your point.

Although, actually, thinking about it, it's the people you don't know who are more likely to take umbrage at you apparently flouting the rules with impunity, they don't know that you are innocently checking for bad news from home, all they know is "some geezer's using his phone in there". It's amazing how those words can unsettle people, the element of trust is in doubt, something a club like Chameleons relies on.

Mr Nosuchperson, Member of Parliament, and his wife, anxious that their privacy isn't compromised, may not want to confront you, they possibly don't want to be anywhere near you and your phone, that doesn't mean that they "don't have a problem" with it or that you haven't "got on anyone's nerves with it". It might mean thy feel the safest place to be is at the other end of the building to you.

In the past, I've seen the club staff go out hunting for people reported as wandering around with a phone, it's not tolerated or accepted, you were just lucky not to be spotted on such a busy night. If you'd have been turfed out, along with your phone, I'm sure the others you apparently saw using their phones wouldn't have been so blase either.

Still, so long as YOU were OK, and your privacy wasn't open to scrutiny by your babysitter.......

We took a whole bunch of photographs of Sasha and some of me at Chameleons, in our profile I pointed out that the pictures were taken on Christmas Day when the club was closed to the public, it makes a great background setting for pictures and i am lucky enough to have access over the Christmas closure each year so will be taking more next Xmas day. We also take pics outdoors, we try to be discreet and not offend anyone when we do it.

I do not condone taking pictures in clubs when members are at the club and would not do it myself.

Lets see if I can finish this once and for all, seeing as I am the one that organised the dam night at Chameleons.

The man wandering around, flauting his phone and showing people messages saying he is clear of disease, was clearly in violation of the codes that most clubs set where phones are concerned.

Those people that had their phones on them and were blatantly using them, wandering around the club, were also violating the rules of the club.

Those using their phones in the locker rooms to check their messages, be them from babysitters/kids/the dog/neighbours, were doing exactly what the club expects..... using them in the locker rooms.

Those that carried a phone on their person because the dam thing is stuck like glue to their hands and it's like another limb to them, were blatantly violating the clubs rules.

Wishy and Siren..... as a case in point. I know that Wishy had his phone in his pocket. He didn't flaunt it, he didn't tell anyone he had it and he wasn't wandering around showing it to people. In fact, he and Siren sat by me when the phone bleeped to tell him he had a message. He was in the corner, of the smoking deck hidden by myself, Siren, Fuss and a few others who know him well enough.

He actually told me what the message said and then he put the phone back in his pocket. At NO point did he wander of to play, or make a call, or leave Siren on her own or show others the telephone.

Was he flouting the rules? Yes..... was he being sensible about the use of the phone......... YES. Did I realise that there was no camera on the phone...... YES

There are many different senario's where phones and clubs are concerned. Wishy used his quietly, without fuss and without anyone else seeing him apart from me and Siren.

I would have thought common sense would prevail, but as usual, a pack mentality has prevailed on here and just because someone admits to breaking a rule.

FFS people, I remember the first time I left my kid, over 22 years ago, with no mobile phone. I phoned my mother at least 5 times that night (from a payphone) only to be told to stop being stupid, she was fine and not to worry so much.

Would I have taken a mobile out if they had been around then...... hell YES.

I, personally, don't see that a lynching is needed, it was a one off situation and understandable and believe me, if Wishy had been caught doing anything inappropriate with his phone, I would have been in a hell of alot more trouble than him.

Do you know what...... the fucking backbiting and whinging that goes on after the Beach Party is driving me crazy.

I'm not gonna fucking bother anymore. Someone else can take the shit and try and please everyone.

Wishy, I support you taking your phone and NOT being a twat with it..... unlike some on here that I know take their phones to chams and check the fucking things every 2 mins in clear sight of everyone else.

Do you know what, that "pack" mentality comes in all sizes on this forum.....and anyone looking in will say a lot of people do it.

It is a shame nothing is said any other time when it is happening to others.

For me personally I think Wishy has had an understandable reaction from people concerned that their privacy might be compromised ( not by Wishy in particular but anyone who manages to sneak a phone in).........BUT I am sure there are lots of people who have their phones in clubs in parts that are not allowed and just didn't admit to it.

So thumbs up for Wishy for being honest enough to admit it......but people have a right to object, and I am sure wishy knows that.

I did try and turn the thread around by asking does anyone else have their phone but it hasn't worked so I think it is a bit unfair for Wishy to be cornered again and again..so as this thread is going around in circles, I am going to shut it.

Ah, I didn't realise that this thread was all about the Beach Party, that the club was running under your rules on Sunday, it certainly wasn't made clear to me at the door, I thought it was something you had arranged to liven up a Bank Holiday Sunday. I will make a point of complaining about it, to ensure that in future, I and others know, in advance, that you have hired the place for a private function, and that you have openly stated here that you support people who break club rules. We all know where we stand then, don't we?

You are absolutely correct about common sense prevailing, someone should have had the common sense to be aware of, and at least pay lip service to the rules, rather than posting on an open thread what amounts to "I broke the rules, and fuck you if you don't like it, they don't apply to me". That person could sagely nod and agree that the rules about phones are proper and correct, yet quietly share a smile with you, knowing that you had both been party to what to some is an important privacy issue in the club, but had got away with it because no harm was done.
