I like the Japanese one's Sympathy for lady vengeance is gory and Pan's Labyrinth is different although not that scary although what she does to his face makes me shudder

I'm not really into blood n gore. Apart from the saw movies, but was more the motives behind the saw movies.

I love, weird, films that make you think. Although Eden lake is good I also enjoyed, the OP,s choice. Not seen a really good horror for a long time! They are my faves.

Horror is my most favourite genre of film, not so much teen slasher type but the ones with a proper story to them, where they are hauntingly atmospheric and really get your own mind working overtime

Recently I'd have to say occulus which was surprisingly good and quite a clever story (which is quite unusual for the genre) and we also really enjoyed the evil dead reboot (despite not wanting to - the original trilogy is an all time favourite), make sure to watch yo the end of the credits btw

Hostel is creepy not just for its gore, but because the idea of sick creeps paying to torture and murder people is not only plausible but probably happening somewhere in the world as we speak.

The Paranormal Activity series is good for tension and sudden frights. Old 70s and 80s horrors like Halloween and The Fog are still creepy, while Phantasm scares the life out of me.

Hmm... Wolf Creek, horrific because most of its worst parts are based on real killers. Also, try Lovely Molly - really creepy.

Saw that when i was at school and it scared the hell out of me, also when i was a teenager, one of my friends had a pirate copy of the texas chainsaw massacre, it was banned as a video nasty back then and gave me the creeps.

"The Thing" with Kurt Russel was pretty scary aswel when i first saw it, special effects in it still look amazing by todays standards.

Recently I've watched The Conjuring, The Possession and Let The Right One In. All good in their own way.

I love Pan's Labyrinth, The Devils Backbone, both Guillermo del Toro films. He more recently did The Orphanage, all are subtitled films, but very atmospheric, and a little freaky if you are susceptible to that sort of horror.

Above all, my favourite is The Exorcist. It has a brilliant story behind it, the prequel to it is also really good too, just not as good as the original.

American Werewolf in London is probably the best comedy horror. Favourite slasher is either the original Halloween or the original Nightmare on Elm Street.

The horror film which has affected me the most though is probably a french film called Martyrs. It wasn't scary, but it was extremely upsetting. One of the three films I wished i'd never watched haha.

Some good horror films which haven't been mentioned yet are The Descent and Rec 1 and 2.

Him one of the biggest serial killers

In history and goryiest thou since in

Russia there Is one guy who has passed

him with murders now behind Iron bars

both of these guys would make the Hardest detective cringe I don,t think

They have made a film on the russian guy yet perhaps to early still for lost Loved one,s etc to face up to that

But being in russia there may be rules

In place to prevent to much Imformation

I think they bob up and down. 1 was great, 2 sucked, 3, 4 and 5 are great 6 is fucking awful. New nightmares isnt bad. The remake of part 1 is poop lol

The third ones decent, and the fourth one in the terms that it's REALLY 80's haha and it's got the most vivid dream sequences .

But the first one is the best by far, I got to see it in the cinema last Halloween when they did a re-release. Was such a great way to spend Halloween.

...all this talking about it has made me wanna re-watch it now haha.

A Serbian Film is a great film. Certainly not for the faint hearted. Not a horror though (although some of the acting can be described as such), it just plays on every human instinct to protect.

I assure you that people making most horror films aren't going in with the idea that they want to put something sick and depraved on screen. It's the same mentality that people who design roller coasters would have.

You think, what's the best placement for 'this scare'. Is this one near the beginning a small one or do we drop them into the deep end with a huge one.

It's all designed for the audiences entertainment. That's why horror films are so popular, they're safe scares. You see this horrible stuff but you know it's not really happening. It just gets the blood pumping and the heart racing for a small period of time. Then you go back to your day to day life

We love all three.

Last watched The Shining at 2am after completing the Midnight Ghost Walk at The Stanley Hotel, Estes Park, Colorado where Kubrick filmed the bar scene.

No ghosts, but then we retired to the Library, where The Shining is screened on a loop, and consumed large quantities of Tequila.

My favourite horror films of all time are The Shining, The Thing and Alien

We love all three.

Last watched The Shining at 2am after completing the Midnight Ghost Walk at The Stanley Hotel, Estes Park, Colorado where Kubrick filmed the bar scene.

No ghosts, but then we retired to the Library, where The Shining is screened on a loop, and consumed large quantities of Tequila.

If you are ever in Estes Park, Ed's Cantina serves amazing Mexican food; a great place for brunch.

Thought you might appreciate this link to 2 videos that are about how impossible the hotel in The Shining is and it's intentional. Very creepy, makes watching the film even more off putting than it already is!

Same here, don't find horror scary at all, yet Woman in Black made the hairs stand on the back of my neck. At the time I wasn't sure if it was Radcliff trying to be a man and still expecting him to pull a wand out and go 'Hocus Pocus'!

But the book also has the same effect on me, as does the theatre production. Not scary, unsettled is maybe more accurate.

I like jap horror but now seen any for ages. Ones that stand out for me is ichi the killer, and battle Royale. But I also like films like the purge, not seen anarchy yet tho
