"Stick to your guns Mally. Look on the ACAS website, I'm sure you have legal grounds for complaint. I know this is Year End and yes there are deadlines to be made this month but for fuck sake look at the bigger picture, life comes first work comes somewhere a lot further down the scale. Your wife needs you more than the job does. " thanks, already checked the site to see where I stood, I'm well within my rights, the boss has just had a moan now cause he has to stay late to do what he wanted me to do, its only packing boxes, dont know why he hasnt got some poor jobless off the dole queue to do it as its a job that needs some one full time on, but the boss has the "all much in" attitude.

"There are times when you are entitled to time off for funerals. For me .. the time I am entitled to is up to 5 days for a close relative and I mean close and no time for anyone outside the immediate family. Anyone can take time from work at anytime. You just SAY you are going to a funeral and that you won't be in. Stands to reason that you wouldn't be paid though. People can pretend to be sick so that they don't have to ask persmission. Thing is - that goes down on your record and eventually you will use up all your paid 'sick' entitlement and be called in for interview or have to go for a medical. I've worked with people whose relatives only become 'close' or 'precious' in death. Funny we never hear about them when they are alive. Why go to the funeral of someone you never took time to keep contact with? Why do some people think that doing the right thing makes bosses cunts ? How do people think that business' run if the attitude to work is to 'get away with it' or get agency staff in ? If a business folds in the recesssion does anyone see their own part in it's downfall...... or just continually fucking bleat about their loss ? No ! - I'm not a boss. I'm a plain dyed in the wood worker who has had the displeasure of working with some lazy , self righteous , anti boss, anti team , just plain anti fucking work shites really. I'm at home " until i read the last three words i was gonna ask you if you were packing boxes at a commercial printers but i won't now.

"WHILE there are too many people out of work, employes will continue to pile pressure and stress onto the staff. If we ask people working in the 50's and 60's after ww2, people could walk from a job to a job But in all fairness, during those decades, most women stayed home or worked part time so there was plenty of jobs for the bread winners, the man of the household I do think in many ways things were better because children felt wanted, and there seemed to be an all round better family vibe going on. I know lots of single parents will say they dont choose to be single parents but many do and I have little sympathy for them. Its hard work looking after a home and family. Getting to back to Mallys dilemma, unless there are less people and surplus jobs, then bosses will continue to be arseholes " yeah and lets go back to when you couldnt get out of a marriage if you were gettin battered and abused and a womans place was beside her man...... women were drafted into work as the reserve workforce durin the war then expected to go back in the kitchen when it was all over, thank christ for feminism and the change of attitude! xx oh and my child is more than wanted thanks very much and she wants for nothin thats why i work and study for a better future for her!! off to burn a bra or 2!!!xx

"history lesson!! many of the upper classes ladies did voluntary work ie educating the poor in how to keep a house etc, middle classes normally until they got married and in ladies jobs, ie teacher secretary etc, lower classes in whatever they could get usually domestic work until the war then most worked for the war effort then some kept goin some stopped then some decided bugger it we want to do what we can do and feminism was coming into force. what is to stop a woman having a career? xx" History lesson right back at ya Mzzz !! The world - and all the women in it - were alive before the periods you describe. Women have always worked. P.S. Your description/ explanation whilst not untrue is at best a generalisation xx See ya Im off to B and Q...... and me an upper class lady....... what next !
