Hi, i have just been prescribed Tramadol alongwith my diclofenic, paracetamol, antitriptoline (not sure if thats correct spelling or not), ibprofen gel for my shoulder, our dog (a boxer called duke), pulled me over quite fiercely and landed on my shoulder, been signed off work for the last 7 wks seemingly they think i have rotator cuff (not sure if a tear or not) waiting to get an ultrasound as even cortisone inj didnt work!!!

Im a bit dubious over taking all these painkillers although the pain is really bad, but dont really like the sound of the side effects or the feeling of not knowing what your doing or feeling woosy!!! Bob def not keen on me taking Tramadol at all. We live in the country and not even got a next door neighbour if i didnt feel too good!!

Any advioe welcomed.

Why the blazes are you on Amatriptoline...... it's a high dose anti-depressant that most doctors won't prescribe anymore.

I was on it for 3 months once, during which time I couldn't even brush my hair!

Prozac is less lethal.

I'd go back to your doctors and demand something else. But thats just me

amytripteline is used to treat neuropathic pain as well as depression. there are only certain types of anti depressants which work on this but it can be effective. Mine is partially contolled by a much more powerful antiD and an anti convulsant. I'd still happliy cut my legs off most days tho

I just wish I could take a day off from my medication, I have to take 20 prescribed tablets every day. Including morphine. But if I didn't, I wouldn't even be typing this, or able to get out of bed.

So all of you on painkillers, I know how you feel!!

Torquay

In the main amytriptyline hydrochloride(known as trippers in pharmacies) is prescribed for night pain and to aid sleep for those with acute skelatal or nerve pain.

It is sometimes prescribed to those with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and to a lesser extent as an associated drug for mild depression as it is a tricyclic antidepressant.

Be very aware that trippers can be fatal if mixed with medium to high doses of temazepam or diazepam, also avoid strong opiod base painkillers if taking trippers.
