Don't go to any websites that require you to enter a number. Sorted.

For a desktop pc.... put the keyboard in the dishwasher, wash... allow to dry for 3 days in a warm place.

all keyboard keys are merely clipped on, therefore remove the number keys, then remove 10 alphabet keys that you dont use very often. place the numbered keys on these spaces and place the alphabet keys back where the numbered ones had been. Thus the problem is solved!!

New keyboard tiz best as they are always prone to hickups after a liquid spill

Unscrew the 20,000 screws on the back of the keyboard and carefully prise the two sections apart. (psst.. write down the keyboard layout before you start so you put the keys back in the right place).

Now, remove all the keys and clean them, clean the board with neat alcohol if you've got it. Reassemble, reboot and stand well back.

Well, if you have a dishwasher, put the keyboard on the top shelf next time you run it. Cover the plug (ps2 or USB) with a plastic bag and make it as water tight as possible.

Keyboard comes out clean and just has to be left in a warm place for a couple of days. If it is wireless, at you own peril.... NEVER tried that!

"you can actually put keyboards in the dishwasher and they will work again???"

Dunno about keyboards - never tried it, but a few years ago now, I used to do quite a bit of investigation / report and repair work for a few leading insurance companies, and the number of Television sets that came in where the owner had 'spilled orange juice or coca cola' inside was amazing.

Most times I would take out the main PCB. wash the entire thing in warm soapy water, let it dry, then immerse the entire thing in a bath of ispropyl alcohol to drive out any remaining water, leave it a couple of days in the warmth to properly dry out, connect it back up and voila ! one working tv set, or at least you were able to find the original fault which was present before the "unfortunate" coca cola spilling incident

If you could hear some of the punters comments when they found out that their tele was coming back repaired, instead of a shiny new one at the cost of their insurance company

The insurance companies loved me - and I loved them

Just buy a sidewinder x6 gaming keyboard, the num pad is detachable, so if it breaks you just replace that part (though they are kinda expencive)

For a laptop, most laptop keyboards come off easy as.... once you work out which key to press down to reveal the hidden retaining screw. Once removed... the dishwaser will work fine on it.

Sticky liquids have sugar and stuff in them and this conducts electricity which is why they won't work. If this is washed out, then the plain water evaporates and the electrics are restored. Electric components generally are not affected by water so can be washed, and as long as they are dry again, will work.

I did my laptop, which had coffee over it, by taking the keyboard out and running it under the tap. Three days later, it was fine. I'd have thought the dish washer is a bit over the top,and a tap will do, but then if it works then hey ho.

Disconnect the keyboard from the computer. You could destroy it otherwise.

You can clean it with iso alcohol to remove the beverage residue.

After awhile, shake the keyboard gently to make sure the iso alcohol has evaporated.

I would keep it unplugged for at least a few hours. Over night if possible.
