AI photos

The prolific power of AI really is taking over. I had a man claiming to be a couple who sent me photos of ‘his wife’ which were AI generated images.

He had been quite clever in cropping and mirroring and rotating images but everything about them screamed AI.

I scanned them through a checker which confirmed they were built not taken.

I’m seeing AI photos more and more on the site. It’s crazy! You have to be so careful as a single person, here’s yet another reason I won’t just give my home address out!

In a galaxy far far away

It's happening everywhere, not just here.

Twitter is rife with it, with links to paid sites for the gullible

I wouldn’t meet anyone first time at my home to be honest

I've noticed a few that I thought might be AI, didn't realise there was a way of checking.

And also won't give someone my home address the first time I meet them, AI or no AI.

How does a scanner know that it is built not taken? What does it look at to determine it?

Not that I don't believe the fact that they were AI. I'm just curious as I know many tools (mainly for written content) where genuine 100% written pieces were put through an AI checker, and it flags it as partial or fully written by AI?

If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

AI images are pretty easy to spot when you know what to look for.

I dont understand what men get from pretending to be a female or couple. What do they honestly get from it? We have been taken in a couple of times sadly but its fast becoming a site of fakes and pretenders. Its making this site harder to use than it already is. I'm glad that fab has increased security and screening but more needs to be done regarding exchanging AI generated images during messaging too.

Probably something inside the image code maybe?

Be careful with it though, I scanned one of my own pics and it said likely AI 🤣

All it's going to do is make people more sceptical of what may be but increasingly probably won't be real connections.

Even just a few years ago you could be fairly sure a profile pic would be essentially real and not photoshopped to hell and back to create an unrealistic ideal of someone. AI is just the new Photoshop but instead of retouching for enhancement it's creating that which never existed in the first place.

AI-generated or not - it really comes down to how much it affects or impedes your Fab experience...

"I’m seeing AI photos more and more on the site. It’s crazy!"

... I'm not suggesting that there aren't any AI images but I haven't come across any because I don't needlessly trawl the site. I just focus on the consistency of photos that are shared with me when I receive a message; impromptu photos on Telegråm and voice/video calls. If people want to pretend to be the opposite sex for kicks and subterfuge then go right ahead.

Without being too boring it’s how the image is constructed. An image file, depending on file type, is read differently to an AI image which is generally code.
