nowhere i've not been on etna - but you'll need waterproofs in case, plenty of water, a decent camera, nibbles and a decent set of boots (not walking boots with all the stitchwork, it gets shredded, i usually have a decent elasticated sides 'chelsea boot). no need for the gas mask and helmet unless you need to be right at the top haha. oh, and a small rucksack obviously, and a few hours of time.

i'm uk, not italy. yes they do tours, i prefer to get my own transport to and from south side of etna 'base camp' (rifugio sapienza, cable car, restaurants and souvenir shops) and do my own thing. i know where i'm going though.
