I'm not just talking about on here, on any online app or site. But day to day outside of this site too.

Do you give it them back. Give them a taste of their own medicine?

Or do you just ignore and if encountered online block them?

For me it all depends on the situation. And who they're rude too. Some situations I can't bite my tongue.

I usually just ignore them and walk away unless they make it personal.

I rarely post anything on social media but I commented on a local page a few years ago that gave advice on finding tradesmen.

All I said was I was struggling to find people to follow through on promises and quotes they had already given me and that they should be more upfront with potential customers about a ti_eline for the work to be carried out.

One guy who I'd never had any dealings with went off on a rant, called me an ignorant and lazy cunt and said he would ensure no tradesman would ever do any work for me simply because I was an idiot for using social media to contact various businesses rather than a phonecall.

The irony of being on a social media page specifically designed to promote his business and make it easier for customers to get in touch wasn't lost on me.

I didn't rise to the bait but I think he did himself and his business more harm than good

I have a tendency to mirror people and their attitudes. If you are polite and respectful to me, then I will be to you. If you are shitty or aggresive to me, then thats also fine but be prepared to get it back

Depends on the moment. If they are offending me, but in no way looking violent, I tend to ignore they exist. That winds them up that their self importance is being bruised. If other then I will belittle them to defend people.

Rude and entitled people are my bread and butter 🤣🤣🤣

I always keep calm and polite. When things are definitely getting out of hand, I follow my training and remove myself from the situation.

In other aspects of life I don’t interact with people long enough to face any rudeness thank goodness haha. Keep to myself most of the time!

Depends on the situation.... on here then block and delete and on a few occasions had to report them.

If I'm at work and it's a customer I'm serving then I....... take a deep breath, smile alot,be over polite and try make them feel really uncomfortable. We have a few regular customers that are always rude and we have nick names for them all. When they have left the shop and there's no one about we have a laugh over the headsets about them....no point getting angry as I wouldn't get through the day 🤣🤣

I can be passive aggressive in response, or downright verbally vicious - or I may decide it's nor worth my time and leave it.

I can be petty though. E.g. If I just got back in my car and you stop immediately in front of me for my spot, and glare at me, I will take my time. Maybe make a phone call, have a snack. If you honk the horn, I will get out, flip you off and go back to the shops.

If you give the universal 'Are you leaving?' with a smile, the space is all yours!

I should point out that I try very hard these days to be less chopsy, because my mouth has, in the past, got my then boyfriend arrested (although later released without charge) when he stepped up as he didn’t like the way someone was chopsing back at me after I was chopsing to them because they were harassing someone.

Prime example, I was in a staff meeting at my bosses construction firm the other day. Some bloke interrupted my boss to ask a question, was then told to wait till the end to ask questions as there was more info coming. Some claim they will do the same back e.g. they meet rude with rude. In my book rude has won and reduced you to a rude person. If rude is wrong don't do it.

Some claim violence - Speaks for itself , they meet a rude person and think violence is polite - enough said.

Some claim being calm and polite works but then state that they do it to wind the other person up - pretty stupid act to wind up an already wound up person.

Felix i'm ignoring cos he doesn't really want to kill everyone - I think he's in a bored moment.

For eg I was at aqua zumba, lady behind poked me and barked 'Move forward' I looked at her and ignored her. As we were getting out of the pool she said 'I told you to move'

I close all lines of communication, online I will block them, but in real life it’s a little bit more complicated, if it’s on the phone I will hang up, they then get a second chance to call me back with a better attitude, persist and I will block the number.

Face to face, I will give them the opportunity to apologise for any rudeness, if they refuse and persist I will simply walk away or ask them to leave, if they persist in being rude , then they are dead to me.

Being a gregarious person, I tend to ignore them, but my husband takes a very different approach. He's as nice as pie until someone's rude to him, which flips his "instant anger" switch, where he goes from 0-psychotic in a second.

Depending on how rude the person is, it can range from a simple scowl through "f*** off" right up to chinning them if they're really aggressive/threatening and won't apologise or back down.

Sometimes we perceive people being rude when they are not. Other times people are rude but because no one calls them out they continue to be so.

Generally, I pull them to one side explain precisely what it was they did or said that I thought was rude and ask them what was their intention? And that I won't tolerate that sort of behaviour.
