You'd have to define what you mean by this and why your friend thinks there is still a connection with your past lovers.

That can get quite uncomfortable (and beware of splinters)

Don't get me started on the properties of fences...We'll be here all night...

I'm not remotely a competent enough theoretical physicist to offer an informed opinion.

Still awake here, so I accept the challenge. What aspect are you going to expand upon:

* privacy,

* security,

* aesthetic enhancement, or

* environmental adaptation.

Apologies to the OP*

Yes, privacy is important so a high fence is required

Security fencing yes, but not the prison stuff with the barb wire at the top

Yes it needs to be pretty and in keeping with the environment it is encasing

And yes, environment is a big factor, fencing needs to be sustainable and non toxic to the environment and made of natural materials, hedges are perfect

*pulls up a chair* i'll sit here

/Apologies to the OP

"You'd have to define what you mean by this and why your friend thinks there is still a connection with your past lovers.

"

When I was 7 my now partner lived 150 yards from my home, never saw him never met him.

When I was 15 my bio dad ran a scrap yard 5 minutes walk from my partners uncles scrap yard were he worked..never saw him never met him.

When I was 25 I met said partner, a friend of mine had a car on my drive and he came over to fix it. I knew i was done for the moment i saw him. We were together for 13 years..then I ended the relationship stupidly, removed EVERYTHING that was his from the home.

I always kept his number in every phone I had, never knew if he still kept that number.

Life moved on..

In 2024 my mum was dying and I was looking through photo albums and came across his birth certificate and some photos that belonged to him and a card from flowers that he bought me saying " these flowers may die but my love for you will never" after EVERYTHING was removed many many year's before.

I just thought sod it ring him, and he answered

After a little bit of talking we met up and started a friendship

His mum suddenly pasted in may 2024 my mum passed in June 2024..

Fast forward to now and we are back in a relationship

There's a lot more depth to the above, but thats the bones of my story

To try and tenuously link it back to the OP's opening gambit...

...those made out of string are typically used for temporary, decorative, or psychological boundary purposes rather than security.

Interesting and thanks for the explanation.

I have not heard it referred to as 'string', but would say technically it is synchronicity - "meaningful coincidences" that appear to be related in time but have no obvious causal connection.

So the events you describe feel guided, destiny-driven, and personally significant, rather than just random chance (exemplified in the film Serendipity)

It's a pretty simple metaphor.

And yes, I do because it's just like that with some people.
