"When I got mine,tattoos were a genuine counter culture.The mainstream public assumed you were an ex Con,ex Navy,Hells Angel or just bad news.Some pubs wouldn't serve you,shop security followed you round,Police would stop you in the street and start asking questions,Police would pull you over if you were driving and saw your ink,especially in Summer with a T Shirt,Customs/Immigration would stop you at the Airport.Now it seems everyone has them,think they are the first to have them and think they have done something unusual,different and crazy.The real counter culture now is not to have any ink." It’s all personal, that’s the point, I know people that have had them to ‘get over’ something negative, also people that have used it as part of a longer healing process, and others that try not to mark the occasion with anything that will make them remember it. I have a friend that incorporated a big scar into their piece, it wasn’t to deny the scar, but to enhance it, embrace…. | |||
