"Today it is easter sunday and it marks the resurrection of jesus, who else is thinking of him? I am Don't do religion, never really got my head around it. Don't need a book or a certain group to tell me how to live as a decent person. Happy for people to believe what makes them happy, but religion is not for me.

"Happy Easter Shag. My dad learned some interesting things on Friday about the story of Judas. I'm hoping to hear what he learned today later. I don't think it's a bad thing to use a feast day as a reminder to reflect on life in general " Hi nicecouple, ty, happy easter to you too, that is good how your dad learned some interesting things on friday about the story of judas and what he learned today about as well

I can't remember the equivalent in today's money but dad did tell me.

"If people find comfort in the story then that’s their choice. I personally think the original story “peaceful man encouraging others to be peaceful”, got embellished to make it more impactful. They certainly achieved that. The behaviour of the early Christian leaders certainly didn’t follow the teachings of the man they sought to elevate to godlike status, quite the opposite. And the fact that billions have been killed in his name and others is way more poignant than any other aspect to any religion. The fact that hundreds of millions of children are raised to not think for themselves and just blindly follow texts written by men hundreds of years ago is just pure brainwashing in my opinion. " Replaced now by 'influencers'

Parents telling their kids a story in fact is very different from people choosing to watch mindless drivel on social media. Want a laugh? We were looking for toys for my granddaughter in Argos and while scrolling through, we came across an influencer play set. Toy camera with ring light, toy radio type mic… I just hope nobody buys them.

"I'm not religious Shag so I'm not thinking of Jesus' resurrection however, is worth thinking about, we could all, irrespective of our beliefs, make an effort to resurrect the positive things in ourselves, our community and our world that we might consider to have "died", such as, love and caring for others, hope, tolerance, self belief..." Agreed Trio .... as a Humanist I don't believe humans require religion to achieve what you suggest either ... just love for others that is not worn as a badge. I agree with you totally

I think the clue is in the name, they seek to influence and I'm not sure how much of it is choice

As in if you're a Christian you believe....and if you're a Muslim you believe..... What you choose to believe is a choice

What you choose to believe is a choice" Religion is taught more in the home than in school. Parents pass their beliefs on to their children. Some more strictly than others. Eastern cultures certainly seem very strict on this with close to 100% of some countries following a religion.

"Today it is easter sunday and it marks the resurrection of jesus, who else is thinking of him? I am Well Shag, I actually quite like an Easter service, especially a sunrise one out somewhere like St Martha's hill in Guildford. Thought about a walk with my dog on Hampstead Heath this morning at 4.50 when I woke, but he seemed content in his basket, and I probably would not have got much time for reflection/meditation with him tearing around. What did you get up to Shag?

"Today it is easter sunday and it marks the resurrection of jesus, who else is thinking of him? I am I do think of him, but just wonder who he actually was. So many religions over the whole world have similar people, with similar thoughts and teachings, I sometimes wonder just what made him so special to us.
