"Family commitments aren't an excuse?!! TOTM... do you seriously expect a woman to have sex when she feels like her insides are falling out?? Great thread 🤷🏼 Family Commitments that suddenly appear an hr before you are meant to meet tend to be made up. For example someone cancelled on me last minute, stating their son had just been hit by a car and was in intensive care and they were rushing there. They must have forgotten I have them on social media because the next day I saw them and their perfectly healthy son at a restaurant on insta." Id take the hint that they changed their mind and didn't want to meet People are entitled to change their minds

"Every time a man post something the fab police arrives with the good boys on their side... so much hypocrisy " I do think family commitments are the easiest excuse to pull out of a meet if they change their mind, but if you've spoken for a while and feel like you know them well then I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Generally you can tell if someone is about to pull out of a meet. The messages can be less frequent, more abrupt etc.

Honestly do people think life doesn't happen?!? I had to cancel a meet this week because I found out a family member had been diagnosed with cancer - that was none of the other parties business and I just said I'd had a bust week and wouldn't be good company, but we're all human beings connected to other people and have lives off this website

"A woman can make up any excuse she wants if she's changed her mind about meeting someone she's unsure about" And a man? Would you feel like it's ok if someone you'd been chatting with cancelled last minute for a made up excuse? I don't think you understand the self doubt that lack of transparency can cause.

It's why I was questioning the reason for "a woman" being specified rather than people in general. Of course they aren't obligated to go through with it, but a bit of honesty also goes a long way.

"Has anybody had received any outrageous excuses for not meeting? Sick kids has to be No.1 and then time of the month a close 2nd. I have just had "I dropped a sofa on my foot while helping someone move" You have to laugh, after all it is Fab but there must be some original excuses out there" My kids and my personal health/cycle will ALWAYS come before anyone/anything else. Especially fab. These are not excuses. They're reasons. And even if they are then you might not be the hot meet you think you are No one is obligated to meet you and plans can be changed and consent removed at anytime..

"I once had a hot meet lined up for my birthday. I legitimately had to cancel because mother nature arrived 10 days too early. It was very much not an excuse I can assure you, it still peeves me now that my birthday celebrations were more sitting on a sofa feeling sorry for myself than being used and abused by a totally divine couple!" I feel for you I really do as this happens to me a lot and I feel doubly bad because it means my partner doesn’t get the fun either ( least he doesn’t get the suffering ) we try not to plan things too in advance now and if we plan to go to a club we literally decide on the day! I really don’t think men understand how frustrating it is for us and it’s never an ‘ excuse ‘ even if you remove the fact it’s too messy and gross they don’t realise the pain and suffering we endure and the last thing we want is to be intimate.

"I’ve genuinely got parent in hospital at present. Had meet for today, arranged someone else to do the sat at hospital thing so I could do the meet, plus a break would do me good.. Drive all the way (1 hr 40 mins) sat in car park of location waiting for message as planned, My messages go unread. I leave 30 mins after scheduled time and make way home. Now I apparently look like a no show and have arrived home to find messages just after I left asking where I am. Surely if you’re running late you’d say? I don’t get it. " This sounds like a time waster tbh and maybe they are pretending they showed up so you don’t report them on here for being a no show ?

"One guy just sent me a video of himself at the gym while I waited at the place we were supposed to meet. was this a legit confusion of days? So confused. " No. He was standing me up... And being a dick.

"I once had a hot meet lined up for my birthday. I legitimately had to cancel because mother nature arrived 10 days too early. It was very much not an excuse I can assure you, it still peeves me now that my birthday celebrations were more sitting on a sofa feeling sorry for myself than being used and abused by a totally divine couple!" I know this isn’t for everyone, especially a first encounter, so apologies, but the amount of times a single female has said this and I’ve followed with, ‘it doesn’t bother me, in fact I find it quite dirty… in a good way’. All of a sudden, it’s been back on! After all, it’s what washing machines are for.

" No you don't look like a No show. Your mesaages show you were there. I wouldn't wait 30mins! That's way too generous especially without a running late message. I've always turned up so that I can say for sure that the other person didn't. Having said that if I or the other person had a genuine emergency I would totally give them a second chance if I felt it was genuine. Being ghosted is not acceptable and never warrants a second chance. We waited an hour for a couple once...we were having drinks in a pub so that's why we stayed, but as soon as we said we were leaving they messaged to say they were arriving. That's not genuine. Probably some bloke in the pub just watching us. Like a creepy walker.

" Had a social meet planned years ago. He cancelled, said he had to have his child, I thought fair enough. Next day, very graphic new verification referencing a meet that night, the night he cancelled me. Just tell someone you've got a better offer etc. " This is the worst! I had tentative plans with a FWB, and when I pushed him to firm up plans he told me he was travelling across the country to be in the right place for a funeral in two days time (which I knew was going to be happening as I was aware of the passing but hadn't known the funeral date until then). Then low and behold a couple of days after the funeral a verification popped up from a profile in his town - for the night he claimed he would be in another town across the country and therefore couldn't spend time with me. Just be honest with me... Tell me you forgot and you've made other plans that you now can't change. Don't lie to me using such sad circumstances as your get out clause. And then don't treat me like an idiot thinking I'm not going to put two and two together! Needless to say I no longer consider him a friend.

What I don’t get about these people is the fact they can’t work out that if they get a verification they don’t have to show it. So by showing it they are actually landing them selves in it to prove they lied and met someone else !? It also means showing a verification is more important to them than the person they were due to meet and that’s very rude. They would certainly be off our Xmas list !

"I can’t count the number of grannies and cousins who die in the day of a meet." In their defence, they can’t text you to cancel when they’re dead. Maybe steer away from the elderly. And your cousins.

" Although I did once get blocked by a hot married couple because I couldn't visit them as my back wheel had come off which was true, they just said I was a time waster " I think I’d be more curious than annoyed. Was the back wheel a prosthetic? And have you got two at the front?

"The 'excuse' doesn't matter in the slightest, the fact is, that person changed their mind which they're perfectly entitled to do so and you just have to accept it 🤷🏼 because no one is entitled to a meet " Well, you say ‘changed their mind’. I’m willing to bet in 99% of the cases, they never had the intention of meeting. Hence the excuse being comical.

"Has anyone on this thread given a fake excuse ? ...... " I've never had to give an excuse because I've turned up to every meet I've arranged. I have been accused of giving a lame excuse though when a couple I had exchanged a few messages with asked me one Sunday morning to go to a club with them that night. I took issue with a few details. Firstly, we don't have any clubs in Ireland where you can just turn up. The few that do exist are open once a month for invitation only events so there was no chance of me being admitted. The club in question was over 250 miles away which is a 4½ hour drive at the best of times and it was a Sunday night and I started work at 5.30 the next morning. I explained all this to the couple and they insisted that I was just making lame excuses. Rather than get into a row I told them to enjoy their night at the club and they said they didn't actually have tickets and were relying on me to get them in. I've never been to a club in my life, don't know anyone connected to this club or any other and haven't even been in that city since the 1980s??? This was from a couple who were well verified so I'm sure it wasn't the first time they used this tactic.
