"I beg to differ, parts one and two are wonderful films."

Part two was a rare case of a sequel being better than the original instalment. Part three was a waste of over two-and-a-half hours of my life, though.

I would nominate every film starring Adam Sandler.

The Shawshank Redemption should have ended with Red on the bus. The beach scene just proves that US audiences need happy rather than ambiguous endings.

Raise the Titanic isn't as bad people think. The score is cracking and the underwater scenes are solid. Even the models are good.

Shit films are the best films. High in cringe and accidental comedy. Or films designed to play off being bad, but are just trying to scare of the Vanilla crowd, so the freaks can have a good laugh.

I'm not a fan of romantic films either. They come across as toxic and unhealthy. Love triangles, poor communication, hurting each other's feelings and somehow there's a happy ending. I think it's given people a false idea of what romance and love is.

OK, the first John Wick film is a good film don't get me wrong, but people act as if it's like the freshest most ground breaking film ever. It is good, but it's a very established trope of "the" hitman retires, loses his love and is dragged back in to monster his way through bad guys. Like you know the ending after the first 5 minutes. It is good, but it is not a big deal.

The sequels just become the weirdest Sci fi, soap opera stuff with awkward Latin phrases to make it seem less silly.

I think people are too weirdly snobby about films.

People turn their nose up at funny films, romantic films, mindless action films.

People are dealing with tough crap in their lives and don't always want to engage in some deeply intellectual film that stretches their world view. They want fun, they want spicy, they want visual entertainment. Not everything has to be Oscar worthy performances or storytelling.

Completely agree!

I have to be in the right mood for an "Academy Award" film .. too serious ..

I love a stupid film which is an easy watch like couples retreat, Fools Gold, airplane etc..

I think people are the same with music .. if you're not into the "classics" Bob Dylan, David Bowie, Pink Floyd etc. etc. then you're branded as having shocking taste in music.

xx

"OK, the first John Wick film is a good film don't get me wrong, but people act as if it's like the freshest most ground breaking film ever.

I think there was more hype around Keannu Reeves than the actual storyline. It was good to see him back in action. He comes across as a really kind, humble person.

I get what you mean. Sometimes it's good to switch off and escape reality.

I think most Oscar nominated or winning films are not good.

Quentin Tarantino: Whilst I would never cite him as a bad director, I do find the vast majority of his films to be incredibly overblown and overrated.

Having said this, I DID absolutely love Django Unchained though 😃👍🏻

I only watched it because of Sofia Boutella. Unfortunately she's been in a lot of terrible films. Although Kingsman is decent I would say.

Not a remake. A reboot. Slightly different story, different Mummy.

I actually quite enjoyed it although Russell crowe ruined it.

It bombed so bad that Universal had planned to make a whole series of films (avengers universe style) they had called it dark universe and they were going to do a reboot of all the classics, but after the Mummy bombed they dropped it!

What? The first 2 naked gun film are some of the finest comedy flicks ever made. 3rd was pushing it to far and I dont need to see the remake to know it will suck.

I agree, some people are weirdly snobby. The "I've never seen X, I won't ever watch X, but I hate X" brigade are weirdly weirder.

I think the original first Naked Gun was good,(the rest including new one no so).....but even the first one was nowhere near as good as the tv series that spawned it.. Police Squad. Was only 6 episodes but was comedy gold.

The new generation of horror films are boring. They hide behind a really tedious and thin veneer of faux-intellectualism that’s designed to make people think they’re clever or deep, when they aren’t. Examples would be:

Hereditary, 28 years later / Bone Temple, Nosferatu, Get Out, Us etc

Fully agree. The films are very over the top and silly, so I get people not warming to them. Personal taste and all that, police squad is VERY silly but subtler and more bizarre. There's interviews years later about it that TV audiences watch differently to film audiences and it just didn't land right which is why they made the films.

"Nicolas Cage is a vastly underrated actor

I can only think of one of his films being worth watching; 8mm.

Everything else he made has been crap, as for his ability to actually act? Meh.

Face off was the other gone in 60 secs was embarrasing

In fairness, Con Air is very watchable, but that's more an ensemble thing, rather than Cage carrying it and much the same can be said of The Rock

Agreed altho cage plays the same part in everyfilm the rock has a sense of humour"

Have you seen him in 'Birdy', the Vietnam film, brilliant soundtrack.
