"Cheap crap along with Shein and the like. Child sla@ve labour, poor working conditions, and these companies are awful for the environments Their products are quite often laden with dangerous and toxic chemicals. " Exactly the reason I don't use those places....Forced labout; the conditions people are expected to work in are shocking, and I would not be surprised if those places are used as a front to hide other criminal activity Temu are being investigated for breach of regulations relating to consumer deception, data breaches, sale of illegal and unsafe objects on too of other stuff. Would not touch them or Shein with a bargepole

" I've considered the labour thing. And I end up stuck on the thought that we cannot judge their normal unless we can change it to something better. It's like the early disaster/ famine responses that did more harm than good for those in need. Good intentions aren't enough. We can't erase what might be their only means of support without a viable alternative. What if these places are closed down? Do you think they'll live or die? Genuinely. Better to use them so people don't starve, but also support efforts to drive up the government pressures for oversight and better wages/ conditions. Maybe that's naive. I don't know.

Something to wrestle with, really with so many goods we buy that are made in China, it would be naive to believe that clothes we buy and electronics aren't also made in such conditions. I mean the components to all of our smartphones are often mined by children in Congo. Only the downfall of capitalism is the way
