Morning fabsters

As I get reading to leave my hotel room I was pondering….

Do other people make their bed after they’ve stayed in a hotel?

Always curious & random

Yes. I think it's only respectful to leave it as you find it

Nope, I take all the sheets off and leave it in a pile on the bed for the cleaners to pick up.

We used to until a manager at one hotel told us to leave the bed pulled down because it stops the cleaners going in and forgetting to change the sheets

I throw the duvet over the bed. I don’t tuck the sheets in. It just makes more work anyway as the bed has to be stripped for each new guest. Easier to collect the bedding if it’s not made properly.

Yep, and I leave a body shape under the duvet with the spare pillows.

The correct answer

I certainly wouldn’t want to sleep in a hotel that left the bedsheets on for the next occupants

If housekeeping have been nice and brought us extra goodies, we will take the bedding off and leaving a pile

If I stay anywhere I have to leave it like I found it, so i do usually tidy up and make the bed. Which I know is pointless but I still do it.

Having work at a hotel as front of house you wouldn't believe some of the tails I could tell you how people leave their room even takeing the light bulbs.

Nope, it's not needed, a hotel worker once said she finds it annoying and said she would much prefer guests to strip the bed and bundle everything up on the bed!! Kinda makes sense

I always strip the bed and fold up the bedding so it can be counted. Clean the bathroom, pile towels into the basin.

.

If I’m in a self catering holiday cottage for a week then I’ll clean the place top to bottom, hoover, strip the bedding etc before I leave.

A night in a Travelodge? Randomly throw the duvet back over so it’s not a total mess but let them deal with it tbh. They’ve got to strip it anyway and it’s easier if they have their own system to let them do it their own way.

This is my approach too. Would always leave the rest of the room tidy and put any used towels in a pile in the bathroom or in the bath.

I fold the sheets back to make sure I haven't left anything behind by mistake.

They're going to strip the bed anyway.

No. It's a hotel, we aren't supposed to be making beds after we slept in them.

Housekeeping will strip it and put clean bedding on.

I follow instructions for towels, if there are any.

They have mattress protectors, otherwise they would have to be thrown after someone pees on them, or drops a drink.

Yeah, I did some research. Well, I asked ChatGPT. Apparently it’s not that bad, your average hotel mattress is not awash with bodily detritus as feared. Still, having seen some of the pictures on here, I do wonder about the capacity of the sheets “to soak up most of it”.

Same here, to make it comfortabel to the cleaning and also to ensure that new guests are getting clean sheets.

Nope. I bundle it up and leave at bottom of bed - makes it easier for cleaners to remove the sheets. Towels in the bathroom too.

Nope. I leave it. I put all my rubbish in the bin and that's about it. I don't have enough time to be stripping beds and cleaning hotel rooms for someone else to go in and do exactly that. I don't expect my clients to do my job
