Do you always go when you get your reminder? I know where I am they’ve been trialling mammograms for those 48 and upwards rather than from 50.

Smear tests can feel scary, however they’re really important as well. They’ve seen it all before. It doesn’t take long and you can take someone with you if it makes you more comfortable .

Yep! Not older enough for mammograms yet but as soon as I am I will. I just scraped under before the age for CS went up too. It’s far too important to miss for a short period of discomfort.

I had a smear and coil fitted the other day.

Smears are fine I don't know why women choose not to go as I think they're really important.

Us men get to have a finger inserted up our bum and have to have our poo analysed every two years after 50.

Do your tests, whatever your sex. Keep living as long as you can 🤓

Yes, I have an annual colposcopy, had mammograms, now of an age for bowel screening too. All very important to go to, and the procedures are nothing to worry about.

Yes I've always been for smear tests and have had my first mamogram. If you're nervous tell the nurse doing it and they'll help put you at your ease. A few minutes of discomfort is worth the potential to spot problems early and be treated. Mrs xx

Same for guys, a few minutes of embarrassment is so worth it xx

I always have my smear, although sometimes it's a few months before I get around to it

I just had a private mammogram, so I'm going to cancel my NHS one

I don't know why anyone wouldn't have one if offered

Absolutely, these things are best caught early as far easier to treat! Well worth a little discomfort for peace of mind

Yes I go. Had my first Mammogram a few months ago, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be.

History of breast cancer in my family so have to be vigilant. If offered I’d encourage folk to take it.

Was a few weeks late getting it booked but only because I couldn't get an appointment. Had it two weeks ago and now just waiting for colposcopy again. Its not particularly pleasant and quite frustrating but is what it is. Still better than the alternative.

Always. I’m lucky not to have any issues with those kinds of procedures, but I know they can cause real anxiety for some people. Far more than just embarrassment or awkwardness.

I will say though, I found mammograms way more uncomfortable than any smear! I’ve had breast cysts that needed investigating, and I don’t know if it’s just my small boobs or if everyone has the same problem, but the positions I had to get into just to make sure the boob was in the machine were mad!

I kept putting off my smear, when I did get round to it my results showed I had CIN3 cells which needed removing. Not a pleasant procedure, I haven't missed a smear since being given the all clear

I have yet to experience a mammogram, now I am over 50 I know it's on the horizon

Previous to having a hysterectomy I always attended my smear test appointments. As I approached 50 my local health board invited me for a mammogram, which I attended and will do everytime I get called. Once I turned 50 was invited to do the bowel screening test, and again will continue to complete these health screening checks.

the mans point of view.

Ok ladies as bad, scarey etc that these are for you the alternative is far worse.

yes lumps can be many things that are not a problem, but then again not always.

these things the sooner that they are spotted then the better the outcome is.

please, please, please make the appointments and go.

cancer etc is a bitch

People don't go for cervical screening (previously smear tests) because of a variety of reasons, not just being embarrassed.

They're rolling out self sampling shortly, starting in London which should improve uptake by around 8% predicted, hopefully more.

I don't think they put a finger up your bum anymore
