Liverpool

After a trip to the cinema recently I was thinking back to the first time I remember being taken to the cinema, with friends, gf/bf and on my own.

1973/4 Disney's Robin Hood

Can't remember the first time I went with friends.

Gf about 1986 Lady Jane Grey

On own - 2020/2021 (well, as soon as cinemas were re-opened), can't remember what film it was

It was a crappy, run-down cinema in West Brom.

The movie was epic though

"The Flintstones movie was my first."

Mine too! My gran took me and I remember telling my mum n dad about it when I got back.

The first film I watched myself at the cinema was Van Helsing. Watched it after I had finished my school exams and still had some leave left.

I went with my mum to see bambi when I was 5 and dont remember much until I was about 8 and we used to go to the children's double bill on a Saturday. I was in charge of my sister. We where given 10p. 8p for the pictures and 2p for sweets.

Then when I was about 11 dad took me to see towering inferno as he thought I was old enough to see a "grown up" film. Then when grease came out snuck in with my friends many times.

Went to see golden child with a lad

The first one I remember as a child was Watership Down. Only one sequence stayed with me for years, probably because I didn't understand it at the time. It was at the cinema by Picton Clock.

Last I knew it was a Co-Op and think, sadly, its an empty unused space.

It seems I'm in great company, as Disney's Robin Hood was the first film I ever saw at the cinema too! It was a Saturday morning show at the Odeon and it was also the first time I'd ever been allowed popcorn.

Have no idea about the other 'first' movies, but that one definitely made a memory.
