How many musical instruments have you tried to learn and given up on?

My record is 4🙈

Acoustic guitar - got fed up

Drums - lessons for 3 year and bought an expensive electronic kit. Didn’t practice enough.

Mandolin - love Capt Correlli’s Mandolin, book and film - gave up.

Bass guitar- lessons for 2 years and could actually play a tune but gave up.

Can you beat my record?

Just acoustic guitar but yet I can play the the banjo...

The Deep Dark Woods

As a teenager I played violin, acoustic guitar and I played a surdo in a samba/bhangra fusion percussion band at school too (don't ask )

I also tried the cello and piano very briefly but my hands and fingers were much too short. Same with the guitar and violin it was a struggle. I managed to get a C in Music GCSE thought by some miracle.

Isn’t the violin strung similar to a Mandolin? I may be wrong. If it is you might be able to master another instrument

Four is impressive! For me it’s drums and drum finger pads for sampling, although I still tinker with the latter

I never mastered the recorder though did as well as everyone in class. I'd not have a chance now . Other instruments I did better than expected . It does require persistence

Drums... I'm good at the hitting part the rhythm part is the problem

Bass... guitar.. only 4 strings that'll be easy .. no...

Lead guitar..so that's a really good reason to get something with two more strings then.. never mind a couple of distortion pedals will cover up lack of talent ..nope..

Keyboards... piano....why did I even think of trying

Had a shitty electric guitar: all downstrokes, not a single chord was played.

Acoustic guitar a few years later: failed miserably

Keyboards: mostly used to play sound effects

I'm looking at my guitar stand with 3 guitars on it - acoustic, electro-acoustic, and 5-string bass. Can't play any of them. Also have a trumpet which is now an ornamemt on my sideboard. Can't play that, either.

Just one. My Aunt bought us a piano as children as she thought we all ought to learn. I had a few lessons but just wasn't my thing. Wish I'd persevered now.

I gave the acoustic guitar a try back in middle school, and had very little patience back then, so I'm sure you can visualise how that went lol

got interested in the banjo when I was in high school, and made some good progress with it... aaand then I can't remember what happened, but I stopped learning how to play it and then focused on other things

had a harmonica at one point too, as I wanted to learn how to beatbox whilst playing it, kind of a fun mesh of sounds, but couldn't get the hang of it

I can play a few instruments, mostly string so I guess that's my forte, guitar, bass, double bass and cello, I can play some mandolin so I won't count that.

I have really big hands so failed with violin/fiddle (wanted to be folksy) and ukulele (hipster bullshit moment). Should in principle be a good pianist but that never went in. And had a stretch of wanting to play brass, tried trumpet (Louis Armstrong phase) and saxophone (thought it would be sexy) sadly useless with both.

Can play a lot of different individual drums but I'm useless on a drum kit. And for my next failure I'd really like to play the Shamisen but hopes aren't high.

Oh did some accordion too for a while, but that wasn't a failure so much, just a shit instrument to play. 😂🤣
