Pontypool

Where to suggest for a rare few nights away with hubby. Any suggestions for destinations?

This might be classed as a belated honeymoon, so somewhere a little bit extra, not necessarily expensive.

I'm thinking

Countryside

Quiet

Places to visit nearby

Not too long a drive to get there (has to be UK based)

I'm looking forward to hearing your suggestions!

Oh, Glow! You have reminded me that we have talked about dark skies experiences! Yes! Definitely a contender.

Ive just started working in Nottingham, so if you want to visit the land of Robin Hood, then come and say hello.

How far is that from South Wales?

Always been fascinated by the folklore of Robin Hood, so somewhere I would consider!

About 3 hours. If that's doable?

How about a luxury Yurt in Northumberland then ? there is a dark site in Kielder forest but also all around Bamburgh Castle Dunstenberg Castle, holy Island , Farne island you don’t have to try hard to get to a spot where you can see the stars well . I’m actually off there on Sunday for a few days myself.

That might be a little bit far from South Wales though if you want to do a trip to Nottingham Sherwood Forest, the limestone caves under Nottingham, Lave market area, the castle, Walton Park and Hall, Clumber Park, Rufford Mill and Lakes, Thorsby hall and pork, Papplewick pumping station, Belton house and park. There are so many beautiful places within 30 minutes, or just an hour away you have the whole of the Peak District to explore places like Castleton and the underground caverns.

Oooh, interesting! Northumberland could be somewhere to go when we have more time.

I remember the Peak District from my youth. Couldnt tell you place names as I was in primary school, but I know we went for day trips around there.

Do you have any accommodation you can recommend on this area? Im on the hunt too. We stayed at a canopy and stars place alnmouth. Was honestly amazing. A tiny little hut with 2 chairs, a bed, tiny kitchen and a hot tub. What a couple of days.

Oooh if you look on Airbnb and search your dates, filters and UK it shows you on a map where’s available. It’s sometimes nice to go through them for inspiration
