Parking space…

Do you go in forward… or do you reverse back in?

The is one right answer… the rest of you are heathens and need to be burnt at the stake!!

If I'm shopping I'll drive in forwards so it's easy to put stuff in the boot, otherwise reverse in.

Sub question... There's a space right a the front of the carpark, but it's really narrow.. do you squeeze in or keep driving until you find an easier space?

Drive in forward like a sane person, no need to inconvenience everyone else with a shit display of spacial awareness or the need to do a 16 point turn in the middle of Tesco car park.

Time and space - it's easier and quicker to back out, and the boot is more accessible if it isn't backed up against the car in the adjacent spot in the next row. I seldom reverse in.

Other opinions are available.

Given the choice, reverse!

But sometimes that's not an option, for example if in a shopping car park and want to fill your boot with bags. Because ramming a trolley down the side of car's is deserving of being burned at the stake

"What about parallel parking. Is your ability to do or first time dependent on how many people are watching? "

Trying to do that in London is made very difficult by the fact that even using your signalling/hazards people will still drive right up behind you before stopping to go in reverse. They have no patience to wait or will be eager to overtake immediately 😂

I’d prefer the person in front of me to do the same instead of going back and forth trying to fit their car in backwards.

I was in the car with my ex recently and he parked in one spot, then decided a different spot was better but it wasn't and then drove around looking for an optimal spot? How is this normal behaviour?

I'll park wherever I'm likely to not hit other cars or people.

All depends. If I can drive right through to the other 😁 But, if I know I have to get a lot of stuff in the boot, I will leave that more assessable - no point risking someone getting too close to your rear bumper you dirty your bottoms squeezing in.

However, I will always opt to reverse into a bay, especially if I'm backing into a wall or barrier.

If parking on the road i always reverse in, it's much easier than trying to drive in between cars. When shopping in Sainsburys and it's busy, i drive straight in. But when it isn't busy i reverse along the same parking area where the mothers and toddlers spaces are because they have a walkway along the rear of the car if i have reversed in.

Go on forwards in the supermarket. The idiots that reverse in and can't get the trolley full of food to the boot....

I park at work depending on the weather and the sun direction - car stays cooler if the back of the car is facing the sun.

Doesn't it depend on where you are. In most supermarkets it's easier to park straight in and reverse out. On roads if it's a small space reverse, a large space forwards in is fine.

There is a parade of shops near me where the road outside is one way and marked with parking bays which are angled so it's obvious that you are meant to reverse in and drive out. It amazes me how many people perform awkward manoeuvres in order to drive in and then again to reverse out. usually holding others up while doing it.
