People regurgitating published academics just to show they have done the reading. | |||

I think actually your assessments, particularly a dissertation if you do one should demonstrate your understanding of topics. The knowledge you gain at university definitely (most times) makes you more knowledgeable in a subject than if you done study it. And that’s hugely relevant to some people because of the careers they wish to pursue. And some people just want to learn more. I’m not going to pretend that A level sociology for example is the same standard as undergrad, it simple isn’t. | |||

" I know people who have are named authors on published papers because of their efforts in their dissertations. I think at university you get what you put in. Which is increasingly difficult for students particularly if they have to work part time to fund themselves. But for those who don't need to work to fund themselves, they really need to put more effort into the academic side of their courses. Universities should not be an extension of schooling, which means there should be a high level of self learning. Skills most students don't have and one parents should be teaching their kids because our schools certainly don't. | |||
