Just noticed on another forum someone complaining about not receiving compensation for a late delivery, apparently the delivery driver was an hour late due to the weather conditions, what is it with some people, this country has gone compensation mad, why can't people accept, some situations are out of everyone's control

Rant over

I hate it to be honest...

it is nonsense that on a bag of nuts it has to say... 'beware contains nut'

or coffee.... 'this is hot'...

my brother in law is a surgeon and my sister a lecturer in cross infections with a nursing background... both now say if they saw an accident they would think twice about stopping and getting involved in case they are sued..

and they have dedicated over 30 years each to patients..

" both now say if they saw an accident they would think twice about stopping and getting involved in case they are sued"

How bloody sad is that?

The problem we have nowadays is, someone must be blamed regardless of the situation.

Not so much the yanks, more about Governments demise of the legal aid system which allowed these no win no fee companies to spring up everywhere

You see it in almost every serious discussion on here..."whose to blame"...followed by he should be hung or something similar.

Its a blame society because if you have someone to blame there might be money in it....reason of course dictates the addition of circumstances into any scenario.....but theres no money to be made out of reason......

Hehe, I realise it was a massive sweeping generalisation and should have had a '' after it. There's some truth in it though!

It is sad how we've become. Just before Christmas I was walking through the carpark near the station. There was a woman and man in front of me, the woman didnt see the raised edge, tripped and fell. The young man instinctively bent to help her up then stopped. He looked around saw me and I could see the indecision in his eyes. I helped the woman up and he walked off. He was scared that a natural act of helping would get him in bother I think. How sad that we are afraid to help our fellow man. What made it worst: I didnt blame him!

It's like when I was really really ill with a hospital borne infection, my first thought was not to claim compensation, it was thank fekk they saved my life and my arm.

What about those who do try to claim compensation are they then not robbing an already beleaguered health service of vital equipment that can save other lives?

Just as an aside. Why do so many hospital inpatients spend so much of their stay regaling anyone who'll listen with tales of how badly the NHS has treated them?

Yes, but they don't seem to give a shite get this, I heard of a case which cost the tax payer £77.000 in legal fees whilst pursuing a medical negligence claim for £7.000

Took the words out of my mouth.

Lawyers nowadays are only interested in lining their own pockets.

I hate this "I am offended at everything PC Health & Safety obsessed" nation we live in.

There's usually no need. Lawyers pay people to follow ambulances around and hand out business cards where appropriate.

Back in 2006-7 two Glasgow based firms of solicitors were paid £1,931,600 and £1,883,600 respectively by the Scottish Legal Aid Board

It's not so much about Health & Safety, it's more about insurance companies who won't provide cover for fear of being sued!!! the Health & Safety argument suits the insurance industry

Well, if it is part of the contractal agreement that any lateness will be compensated without exclusions, then the vendors only have themselves to blame if deliveries are late, regardless of the reasons.

They should take some lessons in writing up their T&Cs from insurance companies!
