I honestly can't remember. I think my mum visited with my sister, but I don't remember doing anything to celebrate.

Nothing at all. I didn't celebrate it because my mum passed away 2 weeks before.

I did an 'event' every month in my 50th year. I tried to make those events something I'd never done before - maybe challenging my beliefs or learning a new skill, or things I'd put off in the past because I either couldn't afford, or had no one to go with.

For my actual birthday I just had a small celebration with a few close friends - a cocktail making class and a meal.

Not much really. I was a bit deflated about it really, but then I found out a childhood friend I’d lost touch with had passed away at 47 and that knocked some sense into me.

Whatever you do, enjoy your day.

"Assuming that you're approaching 50 op what would you like to do? "

Go somewhere far, but cheaply. Train & boat ( no plane). Take minimal luggage and stay a while.

Or

Perhaps do a long walk within the uk for about a week...maybe west to east ...cumbria to northumberland ...

My partner didn't realise that I was 50 that particular year because "you don't look 50" 🙄 I hadn't said much because I thought she would work it out from the fact I'd been 49 the previous year 🤔

When I got to 55,we had a big party. Lots of friends came round to celebrate.

I never let her forget her mistake - in a nice way of course.

I had a few weeks of celebrating...kicked off with seeing Simple Minds live...then spa days, meals out, cow cuddling, Birthday meal at my favourite restaurant with the whole family, complete with Cake and sparklers. Escape rooms, beach day. Work organised a party day and a disco to enjoy with the Children. I had an amazing time

That sounds great. I would like to journey through Europe, UK, India and Japan by train. It's far more relaxed than flying which is becoming increasingly stressful and you can see so much more...providing the windows are clean

It was during Covid, myself and the wife managed to get to Berlin for a long weekend to celebrate in between lockdowns and travel bans. Original plan was South America which we managed this year instead for wife's 50th.
