Does it matter what others think of you?

I was told once when you look in the mirror the only person you have to like or say they did their best to is the reflection

The opinion of strangers, those who don't know me or even those who pretend to know me is irrelevant.

For the first 5 decades of my life I felt invisible so it is important for me to know that I'm making a difference or having an impact on the lives of others.

What people think and what people say can be very different.

People close to me that I have a relationship with not just sexual but friendships etc then yes their views I will listen to and take on board, but others I couldn't give two flying fucks.

I care deeply what others think about me,as a mark of respect I strive to treat people well and with honesty and would like the same in return.

I do want to be liked and nobody hates me more than myself my insecurities and paranoia requires that I try to be liked.

The irony is I have practically zero friends and somehow always manage to rub people up the wrong way.

Yes and no.

It shouldn’t impact your perception of yourself if you have a strong sense of self and a lot of self awareness.

However, if people think badly of you then of course that’s important and you need to think why that is? And then decide to either brush it off or acknowledge it.

If we all walked around not caring about what others thought then the world would be a crazy place.

I've been to a lot of funerals in the last few years. It's become clear to me that people have very different impressions of the same person often defined by the context in which they knew them. I remember wondering who her church friends were talking about at my mums.

I've never been too concerned about what anyone but my loved ones think about me but and this experience reinforced that.

Depends what mindset im in. Most of the time i dont really care what people think of me but then someone will say something that really hits the gut and that sends me off into a slide to bad thoughts and then i have to rebuild it all again.

People who haven't walked in my shoes can't judge me...

I often tried to please others and keep everyone happy.

But its not worth all the stress.

Now I just concentrate on what matters to me.

I love messing and will do embarrassing shite just for laughs.and never care what others think.
