I don't think any one thing does because things are fleeting and impermanent. I'm pleased others do, but I found the highs of elation about something quite intolerable after the initial joy subsided. But I do align with Schopenhauer's views on joy and happiness, in which they are complex, often suggesting that true joy is fleeting and linked to the cessation of suffering.

Happiness is often negative, a relief from pain rather than a positive state. His philosophy emphasizes the importance of recognizing the inherent suffering of life and finding peace through resignation rather than striving for constant happiness.

I'm at my best when I maintain a resigned state of mind. Might not work for all, but hey, it works for me.
