A rather trivial question for you libertines and sybarites:

When you did last polish and buff your shoes?

My leather boots are the only ones that get polished these days. My shoes just need a gentle brush

"Nero, surely your valet takes care of that for you!"

It's the bank holiday weekend. I've afforded him two days annual leave.

They’re suede, they need a gentle brush not a polish

All I wear atm are Asics Gel Kayano trainers, my dear, so no polishing or buffing needed…

Most of my heels are patent leather anyway so just a little wile with a soft cloth when needed.

I used dubin over the winter, as much as you don't need a brush (I think), I've just brushed off dirt as and when with the same one used after applying. That polish smell sticks around for days and annoys me silly, dubin waterproofs and is basically a grease.

"A rather trivial question for you libertines and sybarites:

I don't get the opportunity to wear nice shoes often as a builder.

But if we are going out then the Oliver Sweeney's or my Loakes get a good polish and buffing, nothing worse than scuffed Oxford's dear boy.

Probably about 2 weeks ago when I had a big meeting and wore a pair of monk straps, but my everyday work shoes are suede so I don't polish them...

(Nero, please don't create these threads which I cant help but post on. They make me sound like a right knob.)

In the west.

I very seldom wear shoes now but if I was going out out I’d polish them. When my trainers or Converse are dirty I fill a bucket with Fairly Liquid to give them a good wash then hang them on the washing line.

"A rather trivial question for you libertines and sybarites:

The instant I get them home after purchase.

Once a week for a full polish and buff if I'm wearing a particular pair every day.

Hans, my esteemed fellow, there is nothing more attractive than a man in a dark casual suit, white poplin shirt, walking barefoot along the sand dunes with an air of confidence.
