In a way he is more matched harded than all of the players as he played 4 best of 19 matches just to make the first round. I remember watching him win a triple crown event before the ban and I agree with the comparisons with a young Jimmy White.

Zhao 11-6 up after the first day in his first World Championship final. At the start of the final I felt that Mark’s experience and tactical play he would edge it.I still feel that could be the case but he needs to start the 3rd session better than he did the 1st session.

Well done Zhao.I did have a £100 bet on him @6-5 when higgins and Williams where playing as I thought he would be the fresher of the other 2 players as he had a full Saturday off to recover. Was 8-11 once the match started with Williams and I think Williams lost it in the first session.

Pleased there was a bit of play in the final session as only seeing one frame if you bought a ticket would be not good.

Pleased Williams had a decent tournament

I watched Zhao beat Slessor and that match could have easily gone another way and we might be saying things differently.

Well done Zhao.

. Yes Mark Williams lost it in the 1st session where there was a couple of frames he could have won to be 5-3 down instead of 7-1.I did think that Mark would carry the form he showed against Higgins & Trump into the final but it was not to be.

. With the world rankings on a money list had Ronnie O’Sullivan won the Saudi Arabia Masters he could well have finished the season in the top 8 as it pays £500,000 which equates to ranking points. As it is it’s Neil Robertson that has the money & ranking points and is currently 3rd in the world rankings.

. He is hitting form at the right time. The Crucible hoodo is a amazing stat and Zhao has a chance to break it if he plays the way he did the last 3 frames against Higgins last night. It won’t be easy because there are probably 5-6 other players with a chance to win it.

. The Welsh Open starts today on TNT sports and discovery channel. On Freeview it maybe on channel 39 DMAX and possibly BBC red button or in the evenings on BBC4.On 30th March channel 5 the tour championship starts. 8 players of matches best of 19. I am looking forward to that one.

Well played Jack Lisowski to beat John Higgins 6-5 and make the Welsh Open final. A great match to watch after the mid session interval with Jack playing some incredible snooker.

Another record for Ronnie O’Sullivan. At the World Open he made a break of 153.Normally you can only get a 147 but as Ronnie snookered Ryan Day whilst there was still 15 reds on the table and Ryan unable to get out of the snooker Ronnie was awarded a free ball. By taking the free ball he scored 153. Just when you think he is finished he goes and does something outrageous.

This was magnificent. I remember saying to a fellow snooker fan in the 90s when talking about 147s that it was theoretically possible to get 155. I said it would probably never happen because the scenarios in which somebody fouls and gives a free ball with all 15 reds on the table is so unlikely.

Apparently there was one tournament 16-red clearance in 2006, leading to a break of 148.

I never thought this would happen in my lifetime if ever, yet here we. If you had asked me who has the best chance of achieving it, Ronnie O'Sullivan would be my first choice.

The Tour Championship is on Channel 5 & 5 Action. The tournament is only for the top 12 players. Trump v Allen is currently 6-6 in the first to 10.Ironically Ronnie O’Sullivan is in the top 12 but had opted to not take part which is a shame as far as I am concerned. Mark Allen has taken his place.

It’s the John Virgo Trophy on 5Action. Ronnie O’Sullivan v John Higgins in the final best of 11. It’s been played under Snooker 900 rules. The way Ronnie is playing tonight it doesn’t matter what the format is he is just playing his natural game.

Yep but Robertson would of been 16 and was the last game of the 16 as was close overnight between vafaei.Watched the Murphy match and he is striding around the table beautifully and safely into the quater finals with a session to spare.

Watched Hawkins v Williams last night. Some good break building by Hawkins and a couple of long frames one over 40 minutes and another about a hour with some good safety played. I am really looking forward to tonight and tomorrow night as Ronnie O’Sullivan v John Higgins will be the 7th time they have played at the World Championships and it’s 3-3. The first time they played at the World Championships was back in 1996 as fresh faced 20 year olds. Thirty years later they are still at it.

. I fancy John Higgins to win it as he has been playing well and consistent all season. Wu Yize could well win it easily as I remember how Zhao dismantled Ronnie in the semifinal last season with a session to spare and beat Mark Williams fairly comfortably in the final. The way Yize has been playing is very reminiscent of how Zhao played last season to win it.

Bravo, Wu Yize. What an enthralling match! They both played fabulous snooker but had unforced errors, no doubt through the extreme pressure, and it was a proper battle to the end - such a joy to watch as a fan.

I was rooting for Wu Yize all game but I think whoever won that last frame would have been a worthy winner. Such humility from Shaun Murphy at the end, and I think Wu was just going to leave the arena 😆 Bless him, he looked like he’d just cleared up in a club game, not beaten the best players in the world!

Great match.

. Before the start of this season to take part in a seniors tournament you had to be over 40 years old and outside the top 64 in the world rankings. Now as long as you are 40 years old it doesn’t matter if you are in the top 16 in the rankings you can enter. Personally I don’t feel this is right. However as someone that likes watching Ronnie O’Sullivan and Mark Williams I will be watching on Channel 5 or 5action.
