So fabsters, I need your help!

I have some time off and want to explore. I'm looking for one City, one Town and one rural location to visit!

I plan on driving, exploring, staying overnight, more exploring and then home, but I need ideas - this is not a sex trip!

What about your area screams 'visit me!' Beautiful countryside? Amazing activities? Brilliant food? HELP!

The New Forest is lovely if you go off the beaten track.

Oooh, that's a great shout, I hadn't even considered that and only a couple of hours away, I'm off to Google B&Bs in the area and walking trails! Thank you!

Grew up in the West Country, loved it (and still do) but I've done it to death, only visit now when seeing the family

Visit Mousehole. It's beautifully quaint, a sleepy fishing village/harbour. In fact it can be dead off-season - which isn't a bad thing if you're looking for peace and tranquility, and if you're writing a novel.

I visited last year when I was working at Penzance, it was stunning and I'd definitely be visiting again if work sends me back down that way, cheers Nero

"York or Bath are both interesting cities"

When I was at college I worked at the Sainsbury's in Bath for beer money. I use to leave my car in the carpark at night, go into the town and then sleep it off in the car (before ANPR cameras fined you). I did love it. I have done York a few times but you have gotten me thinking of maybe Harrogate as a town, I've never been. Thank you

In the west.

You could drive up to Glasgow OP and take in the architecture then drive up the west side of Loch Lomond, up on to Rannoch Moor before driving down through Glencoe.

Glasgow to Glencoe would take about 3 hours.

Harrogate is nice but I don't think there is enough to see to make it worth a special visit.

Cheers Dave, I lived in Pollockshaws for about 6 months. I used to drive up to Lomand, overnight, onto Oban and then catch the Ferry to Mull to see the sea and golden eagles, a stunning part of the world! I've never made it to Glencoe, I may just have to relive the past and plan a trip for the summer, I just need to avoid midgy season 🤣🤣

Does Leeds offer much? I've passed through many times but I'm wondering if I could base there for a couple of nights and daytrip out to Harrogate? I'd imagine the hotels outside of the centre are pretty reasonably priced midweek?

I've visited lots of bits of North Wales with it only being a couple of hours down the M56. I stayed in a little village on a hillside. The cottage was stunning and I loved the fact they supplied you a torch to walk the pub at night, it was truly rural and I had the best lamb shank I've ever eaten there, I can't remember the name of the village for love nor money!

Oh yes, I've passed the turn off going up and down the M1 a few times and wondered about it, it has a brown tourist sign and everything! Well it's now a goer, Leeds/Harrogate/Knaresborough is a 2/3 nighter I will be getting booked

Thanks Sophie, I've just had to Google it and it looks very picturesque! With it being the North east coast I fear the costal wind! I definitely need to explore that area in the summer though, it definitely makes the 'next road trip'list

That's a great idea, I think I may look at a 10-14 day tour so I can make the most of it without rushing, then a spa hotel in Glasgow on the way home to soak away the aches!

Leeds is good has some nice pubs and if you going on a LFF weekend could be interesting for you lol. If you really want to treat yourself stay at the Marriot hotel, Lovely rooms and slap bang in the middle of the city, 30 min train ride to Harrogate train passes some lovely scenery.

Derby small nice city to walk around and if you like 80's music visit the metro bar on a Saturday night.

Thank you Slipy, I ashamadly had to Google what LLF Leeds was, I've done Liverpool pride with friends a few times and loved the atmosphere, tonnes of fun! The Marriot is a good call too, I do like their rooms and hopefully some off street parking, I'm happy to dump the car and train in and out
