What songs you would like played at your funeral?

Do they have a resonance / meaning or are they just songs you like?

I've already pre-paid for my funeral and there was a section on the forms to fill in for music choice, I've left it blank so my family can pick something they like , I won't be able to hear it so doesn't matter But I do hope it will be something fun and toe tapping.

Reading

I had an ex (at the time in his 30s and in good health) who had been compiling his funeral playlist for awhile. He collected them and I remember thinking it was incredibly morbid.

But ...if I knew I was dying, I'd probably have an idea of the songs I'd choose to play at my own funeral to help my family out. But obviously if I died suddenly I'd just trust that those I left behind knew me well enough to know the type of music I'd like, if not specific songs or whatever.

No, because I don't want any sadness or songs which could invoke bad memories.

I plan to get disposed of alone with no service. Told my kids to mark it by being together and in anyway they see fit. I want it to be a day about them

No. I think funerals are for the living, not the dead.

...there's a Tic-Tok/Instagram Reel of a school carol concert that starts with some melodic piano and as the singing is about to start, a little kid at the front bellows an almighty scream like he's the lead singer of a death metal band. NEVER FAILS to turn me into a hysterical crying mess of laughter (don't ask me why! 🤷‍♂️). My kids play it for me weekly just to prove I can't ever keep a straight face.

...I told them only yesterday, I want it played as my coffin disappears, 'cos I can guarantee they laugh their tits off!!

The bottom of the River Ankh

I swing ( fnar fnar ) from being comedic like Going Underground by The Jam if I go for burial or Burn baby Burn by Ash if I go for cremation to something like Fade to black by Metallica if I ever ..you know....

Yeah there's only one though. They can pick any others. I've shared my wishes with my loved ones and it'll be paid for. What they choose to do after that is up to them, I won't be there to see it.

No, I wouldn't want a funeral, I definitely wouldn't want to choose the music. If for whatever reason I had one whoever planned it could choose. It would be for them after all.

I went to a memorial event in a pub for an old friend a few weeks ago (he didn’t want a funeral), and everyone was asked in advance to request a couple of songs that reminded us of him. I much prefer that idea to having specifics in mind for my own exit.

None. I’m having one of those door to door funerals.

But I couldn’t narrow down the songs anyway.

The last funeral I went to they had a slide show of photos as well as music.

Buried my best mate last year and they did the same at his (I even contributed a few photos). I won't say which song it was, but whenever I hear it now, it breaks me in two 😢

Round the Bend

Those were the days of our lives, Queen as I arrive and The old bazaar in Cairo, Clinton Ford on exit.

Once attended a memorial service that had disco atmosphere, plenty of food and drinks, finished with fireworks and last few rockets launched deceased ashes over his land

I'm still planning

Towards the end "pop goes the weasel". I just love idea of the looks of expectant horror on everyone's face as they stare at the coffin.
