Ah my Dad had a metallic green capri in the 70s. I loved that car 🥰

My first was a Peugeot 106 and it was great. Never a problem with it apart from me driving into things.

couple, us we him her.

Went through car's like water back then, you could buy a drivable car for £50 drive it for a week or two then scrap it, no internet or camera's so you could get away with not registering it.

Most insurance was 3rd party for new drivers ,very few did monthly payment plans so you had to stump up the cash in advance for the year so you had lot's of uninsured drivers on the road, but as people actually learned to drive properly probably fewer accidents.

My first first car legal and that was a monster of a thing.

1.3l mk11 cortina slow and heavy built like a tank.

There's clearly a lot of people who were spoilt as fuck.

I started driving in in the middle 80's and the general rule most new drivers couldn't afford anything over a 1.3 engine size and a basic model, apart from the odd mate who was a spoilt brat who's mummy and daddy paid if for them like my mate who had a 2.0 ltr cortina Ghia, flash git

1990 toyota corolla 1.8 diesel

Best car I've ever owned, and so light on fuel. It had over 200k miles on the clock when I bought it and had for about 5 years until head gasket went with about 400k on the clock.

Until then it only ever needed standard service, brakes etc
