On pie. Inspired by the pie thread I want to know what you think equates to being a pie?

Yum stuff in a dish topped with pastry lid?

Or pastry all around the yum stuff with a lid on top?.

🧐 😬 🥧

I agree. A pie does not have just a lid

And for the benefit of the tape any pie which has mash potatoes stuff on top is exempt, I'm talking pastry pies

I don't think pastry or mash potatoes are involved in a tray bake? Though I am open to reasonings

Not a huge fan of pastry but agree that you can't have a top and no bottom

No. I feel a pasty is the wrong shape to be a pie

Pie should have pastry all the way round

I cut the top off, eat that, then scoff the filling, finishing with the rest of the pastry
