Put a 5p pence piece down in the Mother in laws house, ahe got confort in seeing them.

She thought that her husband who had passed away, was looking over her.

He used to collect 5 pence piece in jars.

Called the emergency services and looked after a woman while waiting for them when she had taken an overdose, she had got out of her car and kept looking in my direction until I asked her if she was Ok, think she was looking for help. This was many years ago and not many days go by that I do not think about and hope she was Ok.

Oh I just remembered one wet and cold night I was driving back from my daughter's and saw what I thought was a child laying in the gutter.

I stopped and realised it was an old lady, a little worse for wear.

She had fallen off the kerb into a puddle in the gutter, after her taxi pulled away, and couldn't get up.

I had to get her neighbour to help me get her up, then I walked her into her house. She asked me to go upstairs and fetch her pillow, duvet and nightdress; which I did.

I hung her coat up and told her to sleep on her side, in case she vomited, then put her keys on the side and left.

I got a bollocking and a barrage of questions from my husband, who didn't believe why I was late.

I don't think I'm amazing for telling this story.

You were amazing for doing what you did though. It was the human thing to do and lots of people don't want to get involved.

I don't think there's any harm in answering a question like this and I don't think it's necessarily boasting either

As a poster said earlier, it's getting harder to do some RAOK's anonymously.

But pay it forwards are nice to do in a food service operation, or if the folks behind you at the drive thru look like they're having a hard time with their screaming, younger passengers.

The ones I can't avoid anonymity with are the household staff but we like to show they are appreciated.

I do dream of winning a big Euromillions though...several people, family/friends and work folks will be retiring early.

I offered to carry it with a friend, he said no way and left me. It was bloody heavy. My hands were cut by the handles,, pretty badly tbh. There was no way she could do it.

I ended up walking past my friendship group all playing football, they didn't help but took the piss. So not anonymous that way but refused her payment and never saw her again.

I never understood why u was the only person to help.

That's quite shocking and the more I think about their motivations for not helping, the more I reach a horrible conclusion. Their response was driven by Fear. It wasn't "Lack of respect" or "Indifference" or even "selfishness" or "apathy" or inability to "empathise".

They were quite literally scared by the poor old lady. Why ? Because she held a mirror up to them which said "One day, you too shall be I" and this terrified them.

Kudo's to you for "seeing" the old lady and beyond the mirror.

Thank you. This is the first time I've ever told anyone, but it's secretly something I'm really proud of since that day. Interesting theory, doesn't explain the older (to me over 20 was old then 🤔) people just avoiding her. It's a small village to so not busy city attitude. She was a lot of fun to talk to too.

A VERY long time ago I saw a very pretty rock chick girl looking at pendants in a stall in Leeds. It was one of those little stalls that pop up on the walkway in an arndale.

She was looking intently on one for a while and then stopped and went into Boots next door. For some reason I came over all romantic and wanted to make her day. I went to the stall and bought the one she was looking at. It wasn't alot at the time and found her in Boots and said:-

"Saw you looking at this and wanted you to have it."

She looked shocked but took it and I left. It was wrapped in a small brown paper bag. I didn't want it to appear like a chat up line or anything contrived so didn't stay and left immediately.

I did walk about 100 meters away outside Boots to see if I could see her. She did seem to walk out after about two minutes and look for me. She did catch my eye and there was a HUGE smile when she saw me. I smiled back and turned and left.

I still periodically think about her.

The local care home made a post on social media asking for Birthday Cards for a resident who was about to have her 101st Birthday.

I ordered flowers online and had them sent to her under my Nursery's name and got the Children to make a card which we posted out
