Is online dating promoting promiscuity, if you are a young person who has met on a website, do you think those people then delete the site or are they always curious at who else is messaging them?

I hear so many stories from young people

Dating isn't monogamous or it doesn't have to be anyway. I wouldn't delete a dating app just because I went out with someone once. Doesn't mean it'll work out.

At least take it off your phones home screen

Why? I don't spend time on a dating app if I'm on a date but I'm not going to hide the fact either. We're all adults.

I don't think online dating is promoting promiscuity any more than singles nights/clubs, speed dating, or any other method of people meeting other people did.

It's arguably easier to meet new people, even whilst sat next to your partner on the sofa but that's not online dating's fault, that's a lack of moral fibre and respectful values that has more to do with upbringing than new tech.

It's nothing new to explore your options with 2 or 3 potential partners and seeing which one you click with best. Then, when you've picked one, you go exclusive. I did that long before the Internet. And since the Internet, it's at that point of exclusivity that I generally delete the apps.

Wherever

I’m not interested in online dating, or any dating per se, but I was always under impression the point was to date in abundance until you find the right person and you’ve had an exclusivity talk.

Everyone who thinks they are the only one the other person is talking to/meeting is either naive, stupid or both.

I think the only thing online dating promotes is the realisation that you might actually be single forever!

Yeah I wasn't being serious, I think all adults should be mature enough to appreciate your previous point.

Everyone's different tho ofc.

People have always been promiscuous, if they're that way inclined. Back in the day you'd just meet someone in a pub or club, then go home with them. Today you just do it online.
