In the world of fab, who would pay for the hotel if both were unable to accommodate.. the one who suggests the hotel meet or the man?

Opinions and experiences please .

I have been paying as i wished to meet him and I could pick hotel. Never sure if people can afford it or not .. I am thinking maybe next time half it.

50/50. The exception would be if either was biking the hotel with other plans ie booking the hotel anyway and the meet is additional. Or perhaps if one party really couldn’t afford to contribute.

From our experience, it varies. We have paid a couple of times when we suggested the meet, had it paid for us a couple of times when the other couple suggested the meet, and piggy-backed on our FWB staying over on business.

For me, 50/50 seems fairest as a general rule of thumb.

Yeah so splitting is a good starting point, and should be the norm but there are lots of reasons one side or the other might pay more than half. If someone is travelling some distance to see me, for example, or if they are short on funds then I’d be happy to cover the cost. Or if it’s not a budget hotel and we’re going to a particularly posh shag pad then probably whoever’s bright idea that was should cover it

I tried to arrange a MMMF on here once. I booked and payed for the hotel myself and was not looking for contributions or chip ins. Got stood up by all 3 males. My rule of thumb is if I'm looking for a certain scenario then I'll get the hotel. If people want to meet me they should have some sort If plan inplace.

I state that I don't do hotel meets on my profile. If someone tells me that they will get a hotel and I said yes , I would expect them to pay. No way would I pay half I cannot afford it, which is partly why I state no hotels on my profile.

Very similar to a normal date...if I initiate it I cover the cost. If they initiate it I offer to cover the cost, if they let me cover the full cost, there won't be a second meet...if they say 50/50 I'm happy with that...if they actually say they will cover the cost my heart will skip a few bits and probably fall in love...

No, it really doesn't. I wish more women would suggest things - if financial stuff could be discussed quickly and simply it would make things run far more smoothly.

I've booked, paid for and organised hotels. I mention it, I get on with it. I like planning and I don't feel comfortable with people paying for everything for me. I like nice hotels, I pay for nice hotels. We shouldn't be adhering to some outdated rules.

I don't know man, I think a lot of women will agree that there's rarely anything less attractive to them than when a man asks "hey can we go halfway?". I personally believe a man should always offer to pay the full cost, and hopefully the woman is decent enough to offer to pay half

I stated in a really really budget hotel once with someone who insisted on paying. I did offer to chip in so we could upgrade, but they insisted... I'd honestly of preferred they'd took me up on the offer as it was an awful lumpy bed

We book our hotels at our expense, because we are travelling to the area anyway.

There are no reasons we have ever found that mean that someone can't join you in that hotel room for a while. Staying overnight is different, but a 'temporary visitor' is perfectly above board.

I've had many many hotel meets and the subject of cost has never come up. The guys have always paid and it's never been an issue.

If we’re staying overnight then we usually pay.

But most of the time if we’re just using it for the meet then going home we tend to go halves.

It really all depends on the situation each time.

I tend to accommodate, if you last the night you get an amazing sunrise & I do a breakfast for £12.50. It’s a bargain!

In my experiences it’s the guy that has always paid and I’ve never been asked to pay half.

If I felt finances were a struggle for the guy then I’d offer to split the cost most definitely.

I always offer same as on a vanilla date as a man I pay for meal out.

Maybe looked as bit old school but I don't care

A lady probably spends more money dressing up new stockings makeup etc.

Where man same clothes as worn before bit aftershave and ready.

50/50 I feel is fair.

Not even surprised at the comments though considering the number of profiles that have ‘must bring a present’ or something similar.

A little bit of attention quickly goes to people's heads when they aren’t used to receiving.

As for anyone who’s seriously responded ‘they get my company’ I genuinely feel embarrassed for you.

I’ve always paid my way, whether that’s a 50/50 split or they pay one time and I pay the next or one pays for the room the other pays for dinner and drinks etc.

I don’t expect someone to cover my costs when I’m dating and I wouldn’t expect it for something more transactional either! (Not sure transactional is the right phrase… I’m not in the trade

)

However I did learn the hard way to mention budget, because of my share being nearly £200 once, can’t believe he assumed a nearly £400 a night hotel (that wasn’t even very special) was a good idea without checking first 🤦‍♀️ plus dinner etc. Unfortunately I just can’t justify that kind of money really (appreciate to some that might not be much)

That's a reasonable and fair thing to do. ❤️

My observations herein are about those who are echoing each other's sentiments by saying "oh it should be 50/50". Yes, we all know it should be 50/50, but how many have actually followed it through in reality and kept their self-respect intact?

Then, crucially, there are those who are giving lip service by "oh, I always offer to go halves". Why are you offering? Stop offering and start insisting with conviction. Or, for the sake of variety, go one step further and book the hotel for once, and let the other person offer to go halves for a change.
