Whigfield.

Ever since I was a little kid, listening to Saturday Night on the radio and buying the tapes, I've loved Whigfield.

I'm a Hardcore Raver at heart, but man, some of her tunes are just so damn good.

I worked in a club in the 90's and saw all of the bands from that era including Chumbawamba. Saw Jarvis Cocker in the corridor and thought he was just one of Pulp's hangers on.

Not gonna lie, I always used to be the first on the dance floor whenever Saturday Night came on at family parties or 21sts haha, love that song

The Whigfield Saturday Night tape was the first tape I bought and I thought it was amazing. It had drum brakes on the sleeve for some reason! Why? Who knows!

I don't listen to it now but I do torture friends with nerdcore from time to time, which I do genuinely and unironically enjoy (but I know most people really don't).

I often listen to music by The Hu (Mongolian throat singing metal band), or Alien Weaponry (Maori metal band) or Bloodywood (Hindi/Punjabi/English nu metal band with Bangra drums). Also bands like Dead South (bluegrass rock) and Postmodern Jukebox (have seen them 6 times)

Seen all of them live.

Just showing the subjectivity of music appreciation. I will say that live, The Hu are amazing. Really tribal. Saw them in Camden. By the end of the gig the crowd were ready to invade Islington k little horses.. um electric scooters

Much of their lyrics are deeply disturbing in modern day society but they still make me laugh and it was the soundtrack to my early teens so I find the nostalgia value worth it.

I could also add rave music, I suppose. Anything banging and sweaty lol. Not many people I know love it, or even tolerate it.

Always hear the same complaints about it all being repetitive.

Intro, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus, outro.

Pretty much every song follows that similar song structure. All music is repetitive, regardless of genre.

Ozrics are about the most mainstream of it, though I do love Gong (whom the Ozrics supported last year) Jah Wobble, Eno, Amon Duul and the likes. I'd say Magma draws the weirdest reactions when I play it.

Quite a lot of folk still think The Darkness are a silly gimmicky band, but man they can shred, and those high vocals ain't easy! Permission to Land is still a staple album in my frequent plays.

I enjoy Tom Waits, though most folk I say that to either don't know who he is, or think he's rubbish. I don't meet many Cradle of Filth fans either.

I love the blues and a lot of my faves are very early recordings from the likes of Robert Johnson, Leadbelly and Muddy Waters to name but a few and these recordings, as opposed to the actual music itself, can be problematic to contemporary listeners used to modern clarity.

Yeah, I've always had a problem with Black Metal. Not the music! Often it is epic and even beautiful at times. No, its the screechy vocals I detest! Like having your 9 year old little sister having an apocalyptic never ending hissy fit because you've pulled the head of her fave teddy bear off!
