For ages I've been thinking of growing one, I know that (sorrowfully) it won't turn me into a rake but I just love the classic look, and cadence of the bygone age of stars like David Niven and Errol Flynn, and my grandad had one and he looked very smart and was a bit of a cad in his day I was told.

What do folks here think of that style ?

Somewhere In The Ether…

I always think they make the person look a bit shifty….

Although this is probably due to seeing them so frequently sported by miscreant antagonists in 1930’s/1940’s Hollywood films 😜

It only suits a very very small number of men imo. Struggling to think of one now…. Tim Curry in Annie?

Thanks for the comments, particularly the one about it possibly making a giy look shifty, and the one about it only suiting a small number of men - both sage thoughts. I think I'll give it a try then see if it does or does not suit or makes me look like a swindler, I'm also concerned about symmetry and getting it to look just so, as it's got to be trimmed after every day.

Moustaches in general I think are really hard to pull off. I look fine with a beard but horrible with a tache. I kept the hair on my top lip with the image of Henry Cavill in mind. I looked more like a Mario Brother.

Thanks for all the great erudite and varied viewpoints really appreciated, I'm definitely going to give it a shot and pop a photo on in due course once I get it looking just so.

I've been told a few times I should have been born 80 ago !
