I quite liked the conjuring the first one that is. The pacing was good and there were some really tense scenes at the time of watching. The second one I thought was okay but nothing more.

Woman in black is a good horror film, I found that to be more unsettling than horror.

I found Sinister to be a well made film with some really tense moments , being a massive horror fan it's difficult to find a movie that gives me a jump scare. I'm also a big fan of the first 2 Terrifier movies , although I think the first few reviews were written by the wrong people as were definitely over exaggerated about how gory/scary they were. It was claimed "fans were left horrified how gory"

Talk to me was a really well made clever relatively low budget movie that smashed it at the Box office and definitely worth watching . Also the first trailer for the new Peter Pan's Neverland nightmare has been released and may well be worth viewing , can't comment as to how good it will be but I like the idea . Freddie films are a favourite of mine as are the Hellraisers . Not everyone's cup of tea I know .

There's a really good TV Movie version of that from the late 80s that's very much worth tracking down.

As far as horror movies go I like anything a bit original. I loved midsommar as there's scenes from that which will stay with you for years. I enjoyed baghead recently, and a Polish horror called Old people was pretty entertaining

David Lynch's Mulholland Drive.

Is The Green Knight a horror film? I'll say so.

Also John Carpenter directed an episode of a horror anthology show. His episode Cigarette Burns is well worth seeing.

Yes I remember, I haven't actually watched it but I used a few clips for a small project I was doing back when I was in college. It was concept trailer for a new horror ride in Altorn Towers

Yes I remember, I haven't actually watched it but I used a few clips for a small project I was doing back when I was in college. It was concept trailer for a new horror ride in Altorn Towers "

It was released on DVD/bluray a couple of years ago after being difficult to find for years.

28 Days Later, [Rec], Creep, It Follows, Train To Busan, Seoul Station, The Ring, Talk To Me… I know there’s loads more that I’m forgetting but those are some of my favourites off the top of my head.

Sure some seem familiar, but it’s because they’re classics.

PS I’m totally not a fan of watered down faux-horror like hereditary and midsommar.

Just finished watching "Longlegs". A lot of tension, moody, atmospheric settings, and Nic Cage is phenomenal in the title role. I think there is more to come from this story too.

It seems one of those films that is like marmite.

Personally I thought it was awful. Laughable even. Not even the slightest bit scary and quite a lazy conclusion. But I know others who say they love it.

There’s very few films that I get totally excited by these days. I generally find the majority have a certain narrative found in most others in the same genre. Even when they’re trying to subvert it or try to add something new.

So the two I loved and are similar as they deal with cults.

Midsommer

I think both look back to the Wicker Man for inspiration but have also created a genuine new story in their own universe.

Recently rewatched Kill List and it still disturbs me and Midsommer is due another watch.

Invasion Of The Body Snatches & The Faculty are two great ones that also touch on the idea of cults. Albeit in a less direct way.
