Sometimes I see a well written message that needs more mental bandwidth than I have at that moment to give a proper response, so I'll leave it on read until I can answer properly.

I also don't assume I'm the first priority of someone who has just started messaging me on here. If they've wandered off elsewhere for a bit my message will still be there when they wander back.

I leave a fab tab open on my computer when I play video games or watch TV series.

It might show me online but I'm not checking it for hours.

Does sounds frustrating but I know I have myself logged in on my phone but not actually active. I don’t know if that shows a person online or not, so they could genuinely not be online

It's annoying when it's someone who is wanting to meet and you've replied to confirm details and it takes them a while to respond and you're left wondering if they've got cold feet and that you need to make alternative plans

If you consider that rude, then I am probably not for you 😂.

I can get into messaging back and forth in quite a focused way, but sometimes I am just not in the right headspace. I don't mind being poked, but waiting on me can be a fool's errand. It's nothing to do with priority or being rude, well not from my perspective, it's just how my neurodiverse brain works.

I have tried in the past, but it gets me overwhelmed, doesn't go well.

Sometimes my phone has not logged out (or I have forgotten to close Fab on it when I am at work). I have also discovered that Fab may show you as online even though you closed the phone app a while ago.

Patience - then if no response, delete the message and possibly block the recipient (but not before you have highlighted your original masterpiece, then hit Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V into a new message for your next victim)

On here I tend to forget I have conversations going on.

If they reply I'll remember I was talking to them.

If I've been chatting about meeting and they go quiet, even though they're regularly online I assume they've found someone more interesting and I'll switch off.

You won't be the only person.

Weeks? I don't mind. Depends on how well I know the person. Months? I'd write them off and not think about it.

Patience can be a good thing but after a certain point you know they don't particularly care.

Go have a wank OP and don't think about it.

So just because you replied they have to reply immediately? Christ.

There are enough status updates and forum threads whinging about people not replying to messages. People don’t owe you their time and are allowed to respond whenever they feel like it. And that may be never. Get over it.

I sometimes leave messages until later or when I'm in a better position to reply, sometimes I wanna scroll the forum and I'm not in a mind space to be messaging back and forth, I get around to it when I can give it my attention.

If someone got annoyed for not getting a reply purely because I was online they aren't my person.

I am sure lots of people including myself show online all day sometimes. It does not mean they are actually actively on. I must admit the bit that used to find strange and still do a very tiny bit, is when someone you have been taking to just leaves your message unread for days. Not a big issue anymore though
