I'm not much good with phones or iPads, etc, but am with a lap top.

Certainly good enough that when my folks get a new lap top I get the joy of setting it up and hearing my mum spend the next hour saying, 'But that IS the password,' to everything she can no longer log into.

When we updated my parents laptop to windows 10, years ago we left the password in large letters on a piece of paper in front of the screen. They used every password but that one

"I used to think I was shit hot but the older the get the less I care.

Can relate but I was never hot shit anyway or tried to be really. Maybe one of the relieving things about growing older, and experiencing stuff, and being around people is that you care less and less other than curiosity or learning about what other people are doing and where on the social hierarchy they seem to be. I'm still stuck mentally in Windohs 95 and ME (what a nightmare) with burning time in Minesweeper, Solitaire and Skifree and breaking discworld floppy discs under the chair. Seeing Matthew Perry all over the news reminded me when he did a promo for 95 back then with Jennifer Aniston.

2 years ago I chopped up 2 trees cut down as rounds into logs and stacked them over a summer something I'd never done before or thought I could do. You can see guys in their 60s doing things like that one famous one was Dick Proenneke (no joke name).

Had a similar thing when they attempted to raise my broadband cost and extolled the greatness of the full fibre service i was receiving...until i pointed out to them how much shit they were talking, told them exactly how the local cabinet was fudged and incorrectly described as full fibre and gave them the exact location the actual fibre bit starts- which is about 4 miles from my house....kind of took the wind out os their sales pitch a little

I'm savvy enough to realise that keeping an old device along side the newer hardware will fight back against upgrades masquerading as built in obsolescence.
